The location is absolutely amazing, with everything close by. The condo staff was very friendly, and the shuttle service to and from Sugar Mountain Resort was extremely convenient.The condo itself was well stocked and comfortable. The only small suggestion would be to bring an extra blanket, just in case.

Birthday Vacation
Excellent view and shuttle drivers. Place was clean but could use a deep clean. Showers haven’t been scrubbed down and carpet in rooms needed replaced due to stains. Over all it’s a great place to stay. Just seems that someone had that nice of place it would be kept up top notch. We will stay again !

Great Place with some Strange Rules
The Good:
• Nice updated condo
• Great amenities – Pool, Hot Tub, Workout Room
The Bad:
• NO Skiing equipment allowed in the building
o Told to keep in car or store in specified room outside
• Advertised as having one spot for parking at the top
o Were not allowed to park any vehicles at the top. Had to take a shuttle down.

Disappointed
I am not one to speak negative although a truthful assessment is necessary. Our family got the Ski bug this season and have been coming up from Atlanta every other week for 3 days since the first week in January. We rent lodging and have been very satisfied with all other rentals. Issues with Sugar Top 2816: Most of the staff is unfriendly especially check in, 2 out of 3 light bulbs in the master bedroom were burnt out, the master bedroom door did not shut or lock, the master bedroom shower drain was stopped up, the microwave door did not operate unless you stop there and held it shut, the carpets need cleaning and there was no sugar or cream for the coffee.

My first negative review
We travel a ton and use a lot of rentals and never have I ever given a negative review, even when something was wrong to not make renting hard for anyone but this was too much. It started off with us arriving at the property to find a blood stain under the bed sheets which were dirty as well, when we tried to get in contact about this communication was poor and the apartment's managment resolution was leaving clean bed lining in a garbage bag on our kitchen table.
In the second bedroom the bed was clean was so shakey that it sunk in and shifted with every slightest move you would make leaving us sleeping on the couch. When we opened the door to the bathroom we encountered another surprise with the bathroom ceiling falling onto the toilet and ground. We contacted the apartment manager and nothing was done so we went to the lobby and told the front desk which helped how they could to stop the flooding and falling ceiling. When we wanted to use the fireplace we found that the cable was broken and that it didnt work either. There were also extremly loud renovations going on in the building. The balconies were unusable for most of the day (from about 8am to 7 pm) with pressure washers ripping off paint and debries off the building leaving it all pouring right onto our balcony which we had to clean ourselves every night if we wanted to be able to go on it. The sauna also stopped working on the second day we stayed so we were only able to use it one day. The building itself was outdated and not very clean but it was okay however the apartment and the communication with owner of the property was horrible. I wish I could attach pictures to show everything.

VRBO was good the room needs some work
It was a beautiful weekend in the mountains. Sugar Top was a good place but the room need some repairs. The microwave door was taped up, the TV in one bedroom could not get to work, the bed and mattress in the master needs to be replaced. Who ever cleans the condo does a terrible job the need to be fired.

Sugar Top Resort 2816 3 night stay
Sugar Top Resort offers beautiful Condominiums with gorgeous Mountain Views. We have stayed there in many different condos over the years, and always been completely satisfied. However, 2816 was the exception. Although the view from the balcony was beyond beautiful, other areas of this condo were unacceptable, such as no batteries for the tv remotes, the inability to connect to the internet, stained shower tiles, dirty stove top, a broken kitchen drawer ( unable to open for kitchen equipment), insufficient bath towels, no blankets ( temp outside was 22), stained dirty carpet in master bedroom with stains on curtains and also, stains on blinds in the living room (not to mention dirty windows with streaks and to enjoy the beautiful view we had to go on the balcony ).
This condo had the potential of being a 5 star condo because of it’s very nice light fixtures, bathrooms and kitchen fixtures, kitchen supplies, newer tvs, clean sheets, walk in showers, tile work in bathrooms ( grout was sloppy in master) and 8th floor location on the Grandfather mountain side. However, cleanliness was not their priority nor meeting their amenity promises. Fortunately, we had 2 maintenance gentlemen, one from SugarTop and one from the rental agent, who very kindly fixed the broken kitchen drawer, provided fresh batteries for the remotes, unscrambled the tv remotes and connected us to the internet. ( no blankets were provided).
Our time outside of the 2816 unit condo was perfect: the restaurants, Blue Ridge Parkway, magnificent fall colors, and shopping in Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and Boone. The condo resort was also outstanding with their heated pool, hot tub and kind staff.
I hope the owners of 2816 will correct these problems that have been stated by many other renters as well as what we have stated. I rented this condo originally because of the pictures which were very attractive. Instead of reading the reviews first., I also trusted that under each bad review the response was that these complaints had been resolved, but they have not been resolved. Although the management was kind and solved a few of our complaints we will never rent 2816 again.
I regretfully submit this negative review having never submitted a negative review of one Sugar Top’s condo’s before.. As I said, this condo could be a 5 star if the owners would correct their cleanliness issues and maintain other issues.

Problems
First of all you have a safety hazard and a lability which needs to be corrected> The toaster has a cord in which the wire is exposed.
This could be a real problem for you and the tenant if some one used it especially in a kitchen area which could have water! and got hurt or killed. Next the floor was not very clean and had popcorn. Next the dishes had dirt on them, many which could be a health hazard. Lastly the shower in the master bedroom has a drain problem. Not a very good experience.

Quick getaway
I will start by saying that I am a bit picky. This condo was okay, clean but definitely needs a deep cleaning (shower corners, rugs and baseboards, and some repairs (ceiling where there was some water damage/paint pealing, cracked tiles). The property is older but still fine for a quick getaway. Appreciated having dishwasher tabs, tp and towel paper stocked - we arrived late and didn't have time to shop prior. Overall we had a good experience and fun.

Great for a ski trip!
We enjoyed staying at the condo, it was clean and spacious. The pool and hot tub were great amenities, especially with kids.

Nice condo
This condo was nice but in high wind their was a constant banging noise in the chimney and there were no extra blankets provided. With the noise and it being cold outside, our sleep wasn’t as good as it could be. Our stay would have been nicer if there wasn’t a blizzard, as it was, we left a day early.

I read the reviews from 2020 about the bedding and was hopeful that those changes were made. Unfortunately they stand true. The comforter is stained, and mattress is extremely hard and uncomfortable. I think if the bed situation was changed this would be the perfect place. Resort had nice amenities and the condo kitchen was well-equipped and clean. It was an okay stay.

The worst place ever that could have been awesome
Unfortunately, this is a beautiful condo in an amazing complex. The kitchen dishwasher was obviously leaking because under the kitchen sink smelled wet and the inside cabinets were dark coloed half way up where they were wet. Also, the wall next to the dishwasher was black and reeked of mold. The carpet in the master bedroom had black stains all over it, the master bed sheets and comforter had a big red stain on them that I immediately threw in the wash upon our arrival which it came out so must not have been washed. The furniture looked as though it hadn't been dusted in years. Both shower floors were completely covered in mold and when I got into take a shower before I could even wet my washcloth the shower floor filled up with water to the point it ran out on to the bathroom floor. My daughter's shower did the same exact thing my husband spent more than 30 minutes trying to plunge it without success. I called the vaCasa to get a plumber out they told me he would be out 1st thing in the morning but never showed. I called the 2nd night we were there and the complex maintenance man came out the third morning and said he wasn't a plumber he would see what he could do. I took a warm shower and upon my daughter and husband returning 30 minutes later from getting in the pool they both had to get out of the shower covered with soap because the water went ice cold. In that large of a facility you should never run out of hot water but for me to take a warm shower and them not be able to take one is unacceptable. When I called the VaCasa to tell them everything that was going on they were very apologetic and understanding and told me they would take care of it. I sent them pictures and again they apologized drastically ended up sending a housekeeper to come out and clean the shower floor from all the mold. To say they were doing extra cleaning with COVID-19 is a joke it hadn't been regular certainly not extra. Sadly wanting to sleep in on vacation not possible in the master bedroom there are no blinds or curtains only thin sheers so when the Sun comes in you cannot but only wake up to the bright sun. The blinds in the spare bedroom and in the living Room are covered with black dust and are almost inoperable unable to open without a struggle. The closet in spare bedroom the door fell off the track on to me because of it being broken 1/2 of the slots are missing from the door. I don't want someone else to experience what we did. It's not even as good as the Motel 6 and I paid over $900 for 5 nights. It's such a beautiful facility unfortunately this condo should be condemned. Also, for checkout to be 10:00 a.m. it's horrendous when your on vacation when every hotel I've ever stayed the standard check out is 11:00 a.m. I understand having to get out early for cleaning purposes however, obviously this place is not even been cleaned and have a 10:00 a.m. checkout makes it almost impossible to get-up-and-get everything done and get out on time. As much as we pay for this surely an 11:00 a.m. check out would be acceptable. I have reported all this to pick VaCasa but I want it on the public review as well. Lastly, on the weekends starting on Thursday you have to be Shuttled to the facility from an offsite parking. I understand how busy they are during season but this was the end of March 1st week of April when all this ski slopes were shut down so I don't understand when there's hundreds of parking spaces available that were sitting there without people in them were still shuttling from off site. We had groceries and hand to be shuttled back from the offsite lot to the condo. That should be stated when you reserve a Room not upon arrival. Again understandable during season but not out of season. So sorry for all this just want the public aware.

The dishwasher leak is resolved, the closet door is replaced, the stained sheets are discarded, and the mold is removed. The homeowner and property manager are working on a carpet cleaning and replacing the cabinets in the kitchen to address the water damage. Hopefully we can better impress you next time!

Horrible check in process; Run down building.
The check in process is horrible at this building. We had to wait in line for over an hour in our car at the security gate. The building itself is very run down. There was a hole in the bathroom ceiling, closet door torn up, etc. The bedding was disgusting...luckily we brought our own. I would not stay here again. For the price you can get a much nicer house that is easier to get in and out of.

Ski trip
The steam room, the sauna, the hot tub, and the gym were awesome! The room was really well equipped. The beds were noisy, and not the most comfortable, and the shower filled up fast like a tub, but other than that, the room was perfect!

Renter Beware
The photos on Vacasa for this property are incredibly deceptive. While the Sugartop Resort shared facilities (gym, pool, hot tubs, etc.) are immaculate, this unit has seen better days. All folding closet doors were broken (missing slats, not in the tract, hard to open), the hall bathroom ceiling is caving in over the toilet, the secondary bedroom window screen is bent/warped and unable to be used, the table on the patio is missing 1/4 of the tabletop, the fireplace is not in working order and instead has a portable heater connected, most if not all doorframes are heavily dented and dinged, and there are numerous small holes in the walls. It is clear that someone tried to update this unit with tile and painted cabinets, but the workmanship is substandard; there are lots of areas in the bathrooms where there is no grout between tiles, there's caulking around the edges of floor tiles that were not cleaned up properly and the caulking was just smudged on to the tile, and the painted kitchen cabinets look unfinished.
In addition to the run down appearance of the unit, the furnishings need to be replaced, or at the very least steam cleaned to remove some of the musty odor that lingers. We stayed for a full 7 nights and left the living room slider and master bedroom window open the entire time and the stale, musty odor from the furniture never dissipated.
Also worth mentioning, this unit has the least amount of linens of any vacation rental I've ever stayed in. No kitchen towels, no cozy throw blankets and bedding was sparse. Each queen bed had one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, 2 pillow cases and one thin quilt, but nothing was provided for the roll-away bed; also, the sheets provided were extremely thin, bordering on threadbare. Additionally, these few linens all smelled musty like the furniture, making me feel certain they had not been recently laundered.
