Gros Morne National Park

In der Mitte des Gros-Morne-Nationalpark, benannt als Weltkulturerbe der UNESCO, befindet sich das malerische Dorf von Rocky Harbour.



Das Dorf ist eine Enklave innerhalb Gros Morne National Park, und damit die Bewohner und Touristen sind gleichermaßen Nähe von Wanderwegen mit einer spektakulären Aussicht, Bootstouren, beheiztes Hallenbad mit Whirlpool und gespurte Loipen in der Saison.



Unser Haus befindet sich am Südufer des Rocky Harbour. Es verfügt über einen eigenen Strand und Kai. Rocky Harbour ist ein Arbeitsfischerhafen so erwarten die Fischer auf den Leuchtturm in den frühen Morgenstunden aufbrechen, um zu sehen und beladen Rückkehr weiter mit den Fängen von Mitte Morgen nach unten. Unsere Kai und Strand sammeln Strandgut eines Fischereihafen. Allerdings muss darauf geachtet werden sollte, wenn in diesem Bereich zu spielen, kann viel Spaß gehabt werden, um den Strand zu erkunden Schätze gewaschen in am Meer fossicking.



Das Mietobjekt ist ein modern und geräumig (1400 sq. Ft., Oder 130 sq. Meter) Haus auf dem Wasser vor. Die überdachte Veranda / Deck ist ein idealer Ort mit einem frühen Morgen Tasse Kaffee oder Tee zu sitzen, ein Buch zu lesen oder einfach nur die Einsamkeit der Bruch Tag genießen. Im Frühling, Sommer und Herbst es zum Essen im Freien ideal ist, gerade die Sonne Dip am Horizont.



Sei es im Winter (in der Regel milder als auf dem Kontinent aufgrund Seeklima) oder im Sommer (frischer, aus dem gleichen Grund), das Gebiet mehrere Möglichkeiten für Outdoor-Aktivitäten bietet. Schwimmen ist für die willensstarke Seelen (Wassertemperaturen von 12 bis 16C Grad im Sommer reichen und von 0 bis 5C Grad im Winter) reserviert.



Das Hauptschlafzimmer bietet Einblicke in Gros Morne aus dem Schlafzimmerfenster, die den sich ständig ändernden Farben und Charakter dieser beeindruckenden Landschaftsform zeigt. Das Zimmer ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet mit Queen-Size-Bett und Nachttische, Qualität Bettwäsche und verfügt über einen eigenen begehbaren Kleiderschrank und Bad.

We enjoyed the water front view, the well equipped kitchen and the overall layout of the Jolly Moose. The guide provided answered all our questions and the tourists information was helpful. It was a great place for our family to come back to after our daily outings.

Great family getaway

Perfect place in a perfect location...

The house is perfect, in great shape, very clean, and perfectly located for enjoying Gros Morne National Park hiking trails that are both north and south of the house location. Best place for a "fresh breakfast" and at least one dinner is Java Jack's. Again, perfect place to stay with a back porch to enjoy the start and end of the day.

1. What was good We had a wonderful time . Thank you for all the thoughtful touches you provided all over the house. Hand sanitizer, laundry detergent , umbrella, spices, coffee, condiments, scotch tape, cotton swabs, and many more. I felt like I was at my own home.2. What can be better .a) Weeds in front of the house. Driveway . First impression j got when I drive in to your property was not impressive b). The backyard that faces the beach had a picnic table that sits a wooden base . The base is rotting ( some planks) and not a safe to stand on . Kitchen sink very discolored that sometimes is hard to tell if it is clean or dirty .

Lovely home in a great location

This home is really comfy and we loved being in the heart of Rocky Harbour. We felt like we had lots of privacy from the neighbors, and we had everything we needed (dishes, cookware, coffee and tea). The bed was super comfy! Everything was really clean, and the host was quick to respond to our questions prior to arrival and after. It was a joy to stay here and we hope to return someday. Nice House in Great Location

This property exceeded my expectations. The entire house looks like it had recently been remodeled. I’ve never slept so hard as the beds were comfortable, and the climate was just perfect. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils needed, the bathrooms had plenty of water pressure, and the washer/dryer was a great benefit as we spent hours hiking and needed to do laundry every day. It is an easy drive to many different points in Gros Morne National Park and Rocky Harbor is a quaint little town that you can walk and explore too.

Great house, Great location

My son and I recently visited New Foundland for his high school graduation. The house was perfect. It was very clean and perfectly located for our daily outings into Gros Morne National Park. The house had all of the amenities for our trip and allowed us to cook several meals at home and also visit some great local restaurants. Also the deck views of the water with my morning coffee were remarkable as I waited for the 18 yr old son to wake up. We often went from dense fog to complete sunshine or from sunshine to dense fog and mist while he was snoozing. I hope to return.

Stay in Rocky Harbour

The house was nice but not the most comfortable. We would have loved to have a coffee by the water or even on the back deck but there were no comfortable chairs to sit on. There were 4 folding little wood chairs and after a long hike you can’t possibly be comfortable on them. The earwig situation in the house made us very uncomfortable.

We had a great stay at Marcel & Ruth's - their place is spacious, well appointed and clean. The internet, BBQ and applicances worked well, and we even had a family Scrabble night (with teenagers!) after browsing their selection of board games. Rocky Harbour is a great central location to explore all that Gros Morne has to offer. Be sure to stock up on groceries in Deer Lake as the local stores have only limited supplies. Also consider wearing bug repellent in the morning and evening in Rocky Harbour, the no-see-ums were in full force in early August! Note the Vrbo listing is incorrect - there are actually two full bathrooms (one is ensuite to the master bedroom), not one!

Property was in a lovely, serene setting within walking distance to charming town. Furnishings and decor were extremely clean, stylish, and in excellent condition. Washer and dryer were much appreciated, especially after long hikes in scenic Gros Morne.Marcel and Ruth were extremely accommodating and cooperative, and especially when our airline unexpectedly delayed our flight out of Deer Lake Airport.Jolly Moose made our stay in Rocky Harbour a magical vacation!

We had an excellent stay - the location was in the middle of everything we wanted to do in Gros Morne park and the house was the perfect size for our family of four. We cooked at home almost everyday and enjoyed being able to go to the fish coop down the street for cheap lobsters (they will cook and crack it for you for a great price!).

Once upon a time, a New Zealand woman met a Quebec man at the water's edge. They fell in love.

For a few years, they traveled a lot between New Zealand and Quebec to be together. One day, the New Zealander made Quebec her adopted home. She liked it there, but she missed the sea, so one spring she asked her Quebecer: "Take me to the sea". Wanting the best for her, the Quebecer took her to Newfoundland. They fell in love again, with Newfoundland.

For a few months, they traveled extensively between Newfoundland and Quebec to spend time together on the Rock (Newfoundland is often referred to as "the Rock" because the place is ... rocky, to say the least). It wasn't long before they wanted a pied-à-terre in their adopted land and bought a house on the waterfront. A loop had just been completed.

They'd like to settle there someday, so they could follow moose tracks in the snow in the winter, whales on the sea in the summer and Newfoundlanders at the pub the rest of the time. On that day, the New Zealander turned New Canadian will be a New Newfoundlander, and the Quebecer will be, well, a Quebecer.

In the meantime, they are happy to offer their home to people who share their interest in travel and adventure and who are not afraid to fall in love.
