LOVE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We absolutely loved this place! My husband and I stayed here with our two children and had plenty of room. The pool right behind the condo was so nice and clean! We swam in it everyday we were there. The pool closest to the beach was also super nice. We swam in that one every night after getting off the beach. There were hoses to spray the sand off! The beach access was great as well. It was just a short few min walk. The best part with the children is that it’s a gated area. Our kids rode their scooters to the beach as we walked alongside them and we didn’t have any worries. We cooked the whole time we were there and had enough pots and pans to use, which was a nice touch. There were also extra trash bags for us to use & the washer/dryer worked great too. Before coming, it was hard for me to tell if we were going to have a regular beach access. We had never been to Dauphin Island before and the pics almost looked like rocks- but it was a regular beach! It was never crowded either. Maybe an additional 4 or 5 families out at the same time as us. There was never any traffic on the island either. We got around in a breeze. The only thing that may be troubling is there are two sets of stairs- one as soon as you enter the condo and another to get up to both of the bedrooms. They’re listed in the pics, but I will say they wore me out a bit being so out of shape. Overall it was a wonderful home away from home and we would recommend staying here!!

Very nice place, wonderful people, but you get what you pay for.

Everyone was so kind, the people around us, on the beach, and especially the grounds manager. The gated entrance made us feel extra secure. The walk to the beach is simple from anywhere on the grounds; we liked not driving to the beach. The pool, was clean and well maintained. We felt comfortable and at home. So why do I say you get what you pay for, well the place was clean and well decorated, but there are items that would’ve made the experience a bit better. The toaster didn't work, and they never brought in a new one. There was a salt and pepper shaker, but both were empty. We purchased prefilled salt and pepper shakers at the store and left them for the next guests. There were no coffee filters. We called, they explained that's something they don't provide which is fine, but it said fully equipped kitchen in the description? We assumed that included these small items. It would have been nice to have a broom and dustpan. The coffee maker was filthy, we had to clean it to use it. The living room furniture was uncomfortable, the sofa was worn out. There were damages we felt obligated to notify management about so didn't get charged for them. The wifi was bad to the point that we couldn't watch TV without constant buffering. There are a lot of stairs. If you struggle with stairs this is not for you. I know this sounds picky, but I want to offer a fully honest review. We loved our stay and would stay here again.

Cute place

Location is good, walk from the unit to the beach. Near the pool, but pool has no lights on at night. Felt clean but kitchen could use better amenities. Beds just so-so. They are memory foam but on the firm side. Overall a cute, clean place.

A few updates needed but overall a great stay!

Great location right by the pool with a short walk to the beach. The condo was super clean and had all the basic amenities we needed. Beach chairs and sand toys were a nice bonus. FYI there are two sets of steep stairs, one to enter the condo and one the go up to the bedrooms. Definitely not the best layout for small children or adults with mobility issues.

Lovely Condo, disappointing visit

Not sure if it is a function of Vacasa and no on-site manager, but no one let us know that the beach at Sandcastle was closed for restoration. This was a major feature in our selection of the condo and extremely disappointing that we did not have beach access. We have two small children and had anticipated a relaxing vacation where we could walk to the beach, but instead we had to drive to other (very nice) beaches on the island. On the plus side, the condo is very clean and welcoming and the pool is lovely and very well taken care of.

Great spot!

Beautiful condo! The location was perfect and the pools were amazing (and warm!). Only down side was the bunk beds in the second bedroom, not practical for sleeping more than two people, the top bunk was squeaky, disturbing bottom bunk sleepers, and the trundle mattress was very uncomfortable. But the pros definitely outweighed the bunk beds, a great stay!

Very nice but could use some extra cleaning.

The condo was nice but it needed to be cleaned better. The dishwasher had dirty dishes in it when we got there and there was hair in the shower drain.

2nd time - another awesome trip!

Sweet, little condo in a quiet complex with wonderful amenities. Convenient to all the island has to offer but is comfortable enough that you don't need to leave. We will definitely visit again.

Very enjoyable

We loved the location. To have the option of the ocean or the pool and both being within walking distance, was perfect! The living room furniture was definitely not made for relaxation. It was super hard! It made it difficult to enjoy watching the only TV in the condo. Maybe consider televisions in the bedrooms as well. It would be easier for the guest to relax, especially if they need the sounds of a tv to be able to sleep.

Great condo!

This condo is absolutely gorgeous with a very home-like feel. It was nice staying in a home away from home. Quick access to the pool and beach. The pool was very clean and nice. The condo could have been cleaned better and laundry and dishes were left in the washers, and there were some spots on the walls and the baseboards and walls felt like they hadn't been mopped. Otherwise it was a good stay and we will be returning.

Young family, recommend!

This was our first family vacation to the beach. We were apprehensive about the whole trip but we had a fantastic time! The house was clean and mostly updated. Be prepared for stairs. The BBQ grill didn’t work at all-but the kitchen was appointed well enough to do all the meal prep we needed. The complex was nice and quiet. There is definitely still some repairs in the complex from the last hurricane season but we were able to work around it easily. Would definitely visit this location again.

Great place

The house was perfect for what we needed. We were at Dauphin Island to have our annual family reunion. We were really just needing a place to sleep. This condo was perfect with comfortable beds. We were happy to have a washer/dryer and kitchen with everything we needed. I liked that it also had a Keurig! We will definitely consider this house for next year!

Beautiful Condo

This was our first time on the east end. The condo was beautiful and very clean. Only a few complaints and they aren’t major. We would have like to have TVs in the bedrooms and hangers in the closet. It was a very short walk to the beach. We will definitely be back for another vacation.

Completely Inaccurate - no beach, unsafe

My family and I stayed in Sand Castle #2-A over the past weekend. There are a number of issues, including significant inaccuracies in the listing, that we only discovered upon checking in. If we had known of some of these we would not have stayed here. Some of these issues are safety hazards. I contacted a local vacasa staff the day we checked in and she offered a 2-day credit for a future stay., which doesn't make up or unsafe conditions. I followed up with management after our stay and they didn't have any further response. Here are the issues in order of most importance: The beach was under construction and unsafe. There was broken concrete and exposed steel bars all over the bulkhead, not roped off or marked. There is literally not a usable beach attached to this property. I specifically asked about beach access and condition ahead of time and was not told about the condition. The photos on the listing do not represent the beach as it exists. The pool by the beach is closed, and half full of green putrid water (and also not well closed off from a child wandering in). The photos on the listing do not represent the pool as it exists, and the description is false because there are not two pools as stated. The photos show swinging hammock chairs under the house. These do not exist, so the photos are inaccurate and do not represent the apartment. The first-floor balcony has many popped nails that could cut someone's feet; it is unsafe, especially for children. The first-floor balcony door is extremely difficult to open and close, to the point of danger of falling trying to do it. There was hair in the master bed linens, and shower.

Girls get away

Celebrating my daughters high school graduation at this lovely condo was perfect. 3 18year old girls fit easily into the little bedroom. It was close to the beach and such a fun area. They met other kids there age and had a great time at the pool. The private beach is beautiful.

Great for a quiet vacation

The house was located just a short walk to the beach. There is still damage from the hurricane to this property’s beachfront area which made it impossible to get to the beach without cutting through the neighboring rentals walkway with our wagon). We were approached and kindly told it was their boardwalk but to have a nice day. The house was clean, beds comfortable, kitchen well equipped. I wish they had better curtains in the master over the sliding glass doors because the baby was up with the sunrise at 6 am. The pool was clean, nice and warm. Overall would stay here again! The island is small, limited & expensive groceries, so bring your own!
