Das Cottage ist ein Privathaus mit zwei Schlafzimmern und zwei Bädern, ganz in der Nähe des Strandendes der Laika Lane. Dies ist eine ruhige Gegend mit einem dichten Wäldchen im Hintergrund (keine öffentlichen Parkplätze). Geschäfte und Restaurants sind bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen. Der weiße Sandstrand ist nur wenige Schritte entfernt. Location can't be beat

This is a really nice little place very close to the beach. Check-in was easy, as was the check-out process. We loved how secluded we felt but also how close the house was to restaurants and the shops on the main road. We rented bikes but didn't need them as walking was a much easier option. The house was in decent condition. As it is a rental property I don't really expect perfection, but the things that mattered to us were clean sheets and towels, both of which this house had. The appliances were a little dated, and there was a broken cabinet door (which would close but would pop off the hinge when opened. Maintenance came out quickly to take a look but couldn't fix it at the time.) The dishes in the house were hit or miss on being clean - I generally washed everything before we used it (again not unexpected for a rental). Overall, this house had everything that was important to us for a great vacation. Close to the beach, clean on the inside, and working AC. We would definitely stay here again.

The outdoor foot wash station and shower proved useful everyday. We were very pleased to find beach chairs and umbrellas available for our use. Perfect quaint place for two - four guests. Highly recommend!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Been coming to Captiva for 28 years, rented through American Realty, South Seas, and Royal Shell. All great experiences but American Realty stands out. So easy to work with, always so pleasant on phone and by email. Every property we have rented through American Realty has been clean, nicely furnished, and in perfect working order. Stayed at The Cottage 3 times now. Very close to the beach pathway and ground level. Nice landscaping with plenty of tropical shade plants. Star Fish East also very nice!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Staff was responsive to our requests for maintenance. Inside was clean except for rugs which need to be replaced. Shades on certain doors were broken, dirty & in need of replacement. Furniture seats/pillows were dirty. MBRroom bed was very comfortable. Outside mats were dirty & in need of replacement. Outside deck is old & in need of repairs or replacement.

Great for families with kids

This place was perfect for me and my family. The kids could run around outside catching lizards and other critters, while my husband and I could supervise from the screened in porch. The house was very clean, although the blinds need to be replaced, a few are broken. The washer isn’t the best for big loads, since it gets off balance very easy. It has a private outdoor shower too, which the kids loved to use. Overall, perfect place for us! Would love to stay here again.

Great, and needs a little help

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've stayed at The Cottage many times and been very happy there. This time there were some issues.The patio set was replaced a few years ago with a nice set, but it's now past its sell-by date. The table is peeling and on one of the chairs a weld on the seat failed, causing me to fall part way through.There were one or two other nuisance items, but the big issue was bugs. Ants, small flying things and more. We've never had insect problems before, so this was quite surprising. All was reported to American Realty and I'm confident they'll take care of things. We're scheduled to return in April and November of 2020, so we still have strong confidence in the property.

Reviewer Comments: The same broken blinds to the deck for the last three years,the couch is filthy,we had to put towels on it to sit,the master bath grout is filthy,the master bath door won’t stay shut,dry rot still in the master bath lower door. We mentioned the blinds for the last three years.i am afraid,after 20 years at captiva,this may be our last time.
