Gorgeous wee studio cottage, perfect for us and our two wee dogs. The hosts were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. We were made to feel at home and a welcome pack was waiting for us on arrival. The key safe made entry easy and quick. Would most definitely recommend staying here as Eyemouth is a stones throw away with a lovely beach for walking the dogs. Cant wait to go back

Alehill cottage short break

Elisabeth and myself enjoyed our stay and although we were out and about a lot of the time enjoying the beautiful coastal walks and amenities the studio apartment was a characterful peaceful retreat to return to, certainly a credit to Ethel and Jim for the care they take of the cottage and external gardens and landscape.

Gorgeous holiday cottage

The communication with Jim was really good from the moment we enquired about the cottage. The cottage is lovely & in a nice quiet location just outside of Eyemouth. The views from the cottage are fantastic. We found its location was ideal for long coastal walks during the day then nice cosy evenings with the log burner lit. Great personal touches like a welcome pack & fresh flowers on the table. Would definitely stay here again if visiting the area.

Absolutely beautiful!

Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and had the most relaxing and wonderful time together the scenery and surroundings are breathtaking with gorgeous wildlife on your doorstep the cottage is beautiful inside and fully equipped with everything at hand the owners Jim & Ethal were very accommodating and really nice people to get to know we would definitely return totally recommended for anyone that needs to get away from it all

Lovely!

It is a studio apartment so bed is a fold down one, however it was lovely a comfy. It was incredible clean. All amenities and gadgets you could ask for were here, including a dishwasher.If you want peace and tranquility, this is the place to go.Eyemouth is a few minutes drive away. Lots of lovely small towns and villages. Dunbar was worth a visit.Hosts left some goodies on arrival, a lovely touch. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming, thankbyou.I had a perfect stay. I hope i get to return in the not too distant future!

Our hosts were lovely and was there when we arrived, the accommodation which was allocated on the upstairs of the property was in excellent condition and the decor, first class. Absolute home from home. I was in the studio which was perfect for me. It had everything I needed, kitchen area, lovely shower room, lovely King Size sofa bed (of which I am going to buy the same type for my conservatory). the setting was so peaceful, sat outside on the decking in peaceful and lovely surroundings, enjoying the evenings and sunset. If you like quiet, this is the place. Very easy to get to the very many surrounding areas, Eyemouth, Berwick and Edinburgh is not too far away.I met Rachael who was very friendly, full of information about the area, and also interested in why I was in the area, I mentioned why I was also staying and chatted for a good while. I couldn't fault staying here, not that I was looking for fault. My work life is very busy, and this was the perfect 'get away from it' all place for me. I like peace and quiet, and tranquil this was. If I am in the area again, I will certainly be booking this.From original contact with James, which was very smooth and easily understood, to the the very nice bottle of red wine gesture, 20 out of 10 hosts and an amazingly relaxing stay. Thank you.

Not as it seems

The property was listed as 5 minutes from beach, That did not say 5 mins drive. Very remote if you don’t drive, unless you really enjoy walking, not at all what we anticipated. Certainly not up to our cleanliness standard, Host seem friendly enough, we only stayed 3 nights instead of 6, ( we only stayed the 3rd night because we had arranged to meet up with friends) otherwise would of come home after 2nd night.

We are sorrow that you didn’t enjoy your stay with us in our quiet rural location. We personally asked you twice if everything was ok and your response was yes. If walking is an issue for you perhaps it would be advisable to ask. In the 20 years we have operated ALEMILL HOLIDAY COTTAGE we have never had an issue with cleanliness. Durchweg positiv und sehr empfehlenswert!

Ethel und Jim sind sehr nette Gastgeber, die uns wirklich rundum glücklich gemacht haben. Die Wohnung war zwar sehr klein, aber trotzdem sehr gemütlich und gut ausgestattet. Die Gegend ist auch sehr reizvoll und Eyemouth ein süßes kleines Dörfchen.

Sehr schöner Urlaub

Wir können die Alemill Holiday Cottages nur weiterempfehlen. Unsere Anfragen per E-Mail wurden sehr schnell und freundlich beantwortet. Dass sich unsere Anreise sehr kurzfristig geändert hat, war überhaupt kein Problem und nachdem wir die Ferienwohnung dann gefunden hatten (TomTom führt einen leider sonst wohin, also besser vorher auf Google Maps schlau machen oder direkt die Navi von Google nutzen), wurden wir von Jim und Ethel sehr herzlich empfangen und bekamen die Ferienwohnung ausführlich erläutert. Die Fotos entsprechen dem, was man bekommt, nur haben wir uns nie die Mühe gemacht, das zu zwei Betten ausgezogene Sofa so schick hinzustellen. Die Beschreibung der Ausstattung stimmt soweit auch, hier können wir nur anmerken, dass der Backofen kein Einzelgerät, sondern in der Mikrowelle integriert ist. Zur Begrüßung durften wir uns über ein Fläschchen Wein und ein paar Freilandeier vom Bauernhof freuen. Die dazugehörigen Hühner kann man auch vom Fenster aus sehen und allabendlich wird man von der Heimkehr der Gänse unterhalten. Da sie aber nachts in den Stall kommen, braucht man sich keine Sorgen wegen dem Geschnatter machen. Da wir zwei Wochen blieben, bekamen wir nach einer Woche frische Handtücher und Bettwäsche. Die Umgebung ist sehr ruhig und ländlich, bis nach Eyemouth sind es zu Fuß etwa 15 Minuten, allerdings können wir zu der Stadt nicht allzu viel sagen, da wir lieber mit dem Auto die Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Gegend erkundeten (Edinburgh, Abbotsford, Jedburgh, Kelso etc.). Dafür war das Ferienhaus der ideale Ausgangspunkt. Ein besonderes Highlight war ein Ausflug mit Jim und Ethel auf seinem Boot an der Küste entlang bis nach St Abbs. So konnte man wunderbar Fotos von den Klippen schießen und beim gemeinsamen Angeln hatten wir viel Spaß.

We had everything we needed, if the weather had been Colder we could have used the endless supply of kindling which is very rare, you usually have to pay xtra. Only thing with us bearing in mind it was my fault for not reading the advert properly, was the futon, took both of us each morning and night to make it.

If you want to get away from it all, this is the place

Had a lovely relaxing and peaceful week away from it all. The cottage is lovely and cosy. Jim and Ethel were brilliant hosts. The bottle of wine, eggs and homemade shortbread were such a lovely touch. Definitely recommended.
