We love this place! We stayed here six years ago. It was great then and it has been upgraded since. Very clean, comfortable, well appointed. Very comfortable apartment for two couples. I like the quiet, convenient location near Campo San Barnaba. Love the cheese shop there, and also Già Schiavi wine bar a couple of blocks away, a favorite stop for a quick snack with the dozens of kinds of cicchetti. Vegetable boat at Campo San Barnaba, groceries in Santa Margarita, all very convenient. Excellent customer service, although we didn't need much. We had everything we needed right at the apartment.
This very positive review will start where it should - with acknowledging the extra-ordinarily good and proactive communication by the Views on Venice team. They guided us into Venice and arranged for transportation, met us near the house and walked us over there. We found the apartment larger, nicer and better stocked than we had hoped in our wildest dreams. We received the friendliest introduction and local tips from Irene. They had us start in Venice on the most positive note. By the way, the view on the main photo is that out of one of the many windows of the apartment. The house itself is actually much nicer than the ones across the canal in the image. Later seeing the throngs of visitors in the San Marco District we were extra happy about this charming location, near wonderful cafes, sites, stores and the Academia - yet on a quiet canal. Perfect for a family of four plus. We loved it.
The Villa was very clean and spacious, and provided an informative instruction book and maps. The contact person, Caterina, was very nice and helpful, but she was almost an hour late as we waited outside for the keys. The location was convenient and quiet, and on a beautiful canal, but because it was somewhat secluded, a group of men from Columbia would meet outside our door twice a day as they prepared their counterfeit purses for sale to the tourists. There were two large bedrooms, plus a pullout sofa and couches for sleeping on. The beds were firm, but not uncomfortable. They forgot the sheets and towels for our fifth guest, but brought them promptly. The kitchen was easy to work in and clean, and offered a small table for dining. There was also an additional dining table that looked out towards the canal. It had three independent AC units, but we were there during cool mild weather, so we mostly opened the windows, because the dining room AC was loud.
For the most part, it was a nice rental, but it has foundation issues which resulted in severely rolling floors. As a result, my mother (age 55) developed a bad case of vertigo which lasted the ENTIRE time we were there, and even lingered for several days afterwards. My wife also experienced vertigo, but the path to our room was not quite as rolling, so her symptoms didn't last as long. The floor also suddenly shifts upwards at the entrance of the master bedroom, which was a toe stubber.
There is a long narrow set of steps you must climb to get into the apartment. They weren't inconvenient for our group, but I'm mentioning it so that people are aware. NOTE: In Italy, the ground floor is "0" and the (1st) first floor is actually a flight up.
If a rating of 3.5 stars was available, I'd give it that score, but it's not, so I gave it a 4 ... because 3 would be an injustice.
We have stayed at three VRBO properties during our vacation, with this one far and away the best. It was the most expensive of the three, but worth it.
The entry area going up the stairs seems to be under construction, which worried us on arrival, but upon opening the door to the apt, well, it was just perfect.
The only negatives I would have are the bed I was in was quite firm for my taste, and the master shower was a bit tight.
Can't beat location: quiet, near Accademia Bridge, near points of interest, restaurants, latte stops and gelato. Decor fair to good. There was a sink problem with odor in one bath and 1st floor was under construction. Otherwise fine.
Lovely, freshly renovated, spacious apartment, with everything you could want including lots of utensils, crockery and cutlery so you could cook and serve a proper full meal; well appointed bathrooms, comfortable sitting room and dining room, spacious bedrooms with lots of cupboards. A perfect home from home and one I would return to. Views On Venice gave outstanding customer service, again
