Must Stay, Fun Getaway, Great Island Town!

This town offers a safe, quiet, very remote getaway. Beautiful hiking trails, wonderful water features both fresh water lakes and salt water ocean as well. I highly recommend staying here. Great house, very clean, plenty of room for a family!

We loved our stay at the Anderson Island Getaway! We come to Anderson Island quite a bit and this will be one of our favorite places to stay! Beautiful place to stay

We had a wonderful time with 2 couples and a ten year old. There was plenty of room if our teens would have decided to come and they had entertainment. Anderson Island is a relaxing place to explore nature with lots of easy trails. Not a lot of dog friendly areas though, so keep that in mind. We definitely want to come back as the only problem we found was our trip was not quite long enough. Thank you for a fantastic weekend.

Lovely but slightly misleading

We had a great four day weekend. The island is cute and so is the home. Cons: No king bed. No water access. Grill was molding. Couldn't use it. Our Queen bed had someone's hair in it. Possibly a dog? Pros: Nicely Decorated. Property manager was lovely and quick to respond. Access is simple. Island is very cute. Everyone is friendly. Great thoughtful touches like pods for laundry and dove toiletries. Lots of spare blankets, pillows, etc. Other than a few things, It was great and despite the slightly misleading listing, we will stay again. Pros: Quiet Great place to chill. Pmanager

Girls Trip

The house was nice but there is room for improvement. The dishwasher did not work and actually leaked water everywhere, the vacuum did not work, the coffee maker was barely working. However we contacted the property manager and they were very responsive and let us know it would be taken care of and they offered us a credit. Overall the house was a good location and was a good house for our girls trip.

Overall, we enjoyed this house. It has great spaces for gathering inside and out and is close to the lakes. However, when we arrived 20 minutes after check in time, the person cleaning the house was still there. He left quickly and mentioned that he didn't get a chance to check everything. The carpets were not vacuumed and almost all the dishes we pulled out of the messy cupboards were filthy dirty. There were no towels for the kitchen and the bathrooms only had one towel each. We called for towels and they brought some quickly. The ad said there was a king sized bed, but there was not. And the beds were quite uncomfortable.

Wonderful stay

The property is beautiful. The game room was so nice to have. We had a short visit with planned activities so we didn’t get to spend as much time as we wanted exploring the island. However there are trails to walk and a swimming area that has slides and picnic area to enjoy. We had deer roaming the yard, it was very nice to sit and watch them. We enjoyed the ferry rides and it was very easy and smooth to get on and off the island. However there was not any good public access to the shore of Puget sound. The lake that is located across from the property was very nasty and a sign was posted without a date, that the lake was unusable due to algae. The island store was nice, super close by, and reasonably priced. Overall we really enjoyed the property and would definitely stay again. One thing to note, the dive-way is a pretty steep hill, I recommend having a SUV or larger vehicle. I car would be fine since it is gravel however you may bottom out.

We won't book again

The driveway was impassable, forcing us to carry all our gear up an unstable hill or uneven stairs with exposed rebar at ankle level. The trash cans were full and there were no bins to put out. One blanket for five rooms. Awful smell in the basement. All the seating is bar stool height. The kitchen is tiny, was ill-equipped and there was no place to put our food. The listing made it look like this was on the water. It isn't. It is one block west but there is no public access. When my car was damaged trying to use the driveway, the manager dodged and the owner never responded. Anderson Island is a great place. The quiet and nearby parks were terrific. We'll go back to Anderson but we will not book this place again.

This house is fine, but it’s not in great shape. The lower level with the pool table smelled terrible, like a combination of dog and mildew and was, therefore, unusable. The drawers in the kitchen were dirty, the pans are all flaking teflon, and the kitchen was poorly stocked (ex. half of the measuring cups and spoons were missing and there weren’t any hot pad holders). The dishwasher doesn’t work. When we arrived, the heat was turned down to 55, which was problematic because it took several hours for the one wall heater in the common area to heat the living/dining room. There’s a wood stove but no matches or lighter so we couldn’t use it. The beds are more uncomfortable than most.

Great place!

Very nice house, great place to stay. Lots of seating, both inside and in the different outside areas. We all very much liked it and would gladly stay again. It was our first time on Anderson Island and definitely not our last. A few caveats, though- the driveway is steep, and made of loose gravel. Can be a bit tricky, particularly if your car is loaded with multiple people. The bunkbeds in the main floor bedroom are rated for a weight limit of 165 lbs- so probably just for kids or smaller adults. The kitchen has rather fewer utensils and coffee cups than it should. The owners should consider spending a few bucks on adding some, just for the convenience of the guests. Construction on the exterior decks seems a little questionable. Not a building inspector but I can count lag bolts- and there are fewer than I'd use. The big issue I have, though, is with the pricing. The cost per night was fine, but the added fees were 40% of the pre-tax total. That's far higher than any other VRBO I've rented. I still rented it, obviously, but I'm not sure it's worth it. Just my two cents! Beautiful house, though.

So much potential, but some major problems

I rarely complain about vacation rentals. I hate to complain, but I have to here. This house has the potential to be so great with lots of cool extras (kayaks, pool table, disc golf, etc) and an awesome location, but there were some things that need a lot of attention. 1) This was the dirtiest vacation rental I've ever stayed in. Some things were clearly just not cleaned since the last guest departed. Floors, fridge, dishes, etc. 2) The dishwasher was broken. Understandable, but no notice or discount. 3) The garbage cans were all full upon arrival. We got there on a Thursday...garbage day in this neighborhood is Thursday. I called Vacasa, they said they'd send the local property manager. He called me back more than 24 hours later and said they'd be by to pick up our now-overflowing garbage pile. They never showed. By the time we left on Wednesday, it really was a garbage pile. 4) The BBQ was completely rusted out and unusable. The burners had disintegrated into a rusty heap and the flames just shot out. We spent a lot of money on steaks and seafood for the grill for my wife's birthday. Luckily, we have some family on the island and were able to borrow one. 5) the fridge was barely cold. It was cranked as cold as it would go and it seemed just passable, but it's on its last leg. The house itself was great. The owner clearly has kids (as do we) and it was well stocked with movies, books, games, etc. The location across the street from access to the lake was fantastic. Four kayaks, disc golf, pool table, a kegerator (we didn't bring a keg), great fire pit and lots of firewood, awesome decks off a bedroom and the living room, and even a cool little addicting swinging ring-on-a-string game on the deck. If they could up their attention to detail on cleaning and keep the place in better shape, we would absolutely stay there again. We'd go somewhere else, otherwise. It's managed by Vacasa and other Vacasa places I've stayed were impeccable.

The house was great!! Clean, well equipped with lots of extras like games and pool table. I would totally give this a 5 except for 2 issues that for some people could be a real problem. 1. The biggest issue is the driveway. I have a mini van and there was not nearly enough clearance to get up this very steep driveway. If I had I think traction would have also been an issue because of all the loose gravel. If you don't have high clearance and AWD or 4x4 forget getting up the driveway. The stairs going up to the house are not much better. No handrails and bottom step steep with uneven ground all around it. We had to carry everything up and down the steep driveway to get it to the house. 2. Wifi signal was so bad I never got it to work. My cell phone signal was weak in this area so internet was pretty sketchy. Texting and calls did ok for the most part. No signal for tv. But there are DVD players if you need some entertainment for the kids. Also, don't let the picture of the dock on the lake fool you. That is the neighbor's lake access. Not for public use. There is a great park and swim area just a couple miles away though. I think it's important to be able to consider these things before choosing this home. If these are not a deterrent you will love this place. Peaceful, great layed back community, and the doe with her two spotted fawns were an added bonus.

This is a nice home with a great amount of space. Nice kitchen with a great dining area! This home is clean and cared for and the location is great for the lake and golf.

We had an amazing time. House was very clean, kitchen had everything we needed.

I will definitely stay in of your homes again. Donna the property manager was great! She answered any questions that we had with in minutes if not immediately. Thank you for keeping your home in amazing condition.

Don't let the reviews scare you off!

I do not typically get reviews done but in this case I wanted to make sure that I did. I was scared off by all the reviews and was skeptical to rent this house. We had a great time! The house was clean and had everything we needed. We played games, relaxed and even got to go outside and sit on the deck. The kids walked down to the dock which is a short walk down a trail across the road. There were tons of DVDs to watch and we enjoyed playing pool and darts. We loved being able to bring the family dog as well. Peaceful area! My only suggestion would be to change out the bed downstairs from a double to a queen as it had plenty of room and would help many people better accommodate guests. Great house! I am soo thankful I chose to try it regardless of the previous reviews and we will be back again!

Overall it was fine, but with some important oversights

The house is large and accommodating. The bunk room is especially good for family gatherings. Nice game room in the basement and a comfortable living room with comfy couches. We did not experience the cleanliness issues others have noted. Overall we found the place clean and tidy. The only cleanliness issue is just a general need for touch up paint and repairs. I would leave a five star review except for some items that should be easy fixes but have not been addressed in this house for some reason: - Dishwasher not screwed into the counter, so it flops all over the place and difficult to use. This is a 30 second repair with a drill and two screws. Please fix. - The sheets, while clean, were *terrible*. They were the cheapest sheets from the discount rack at Target, and were kind of worn out to boot. A slightly higher quality set of sheets on each bed would go a long way. Don't need 600 thread count Egyptian cotton, but just slightly better. - Speaking of bedding, the blankets were also worn and too thin for the winter. Worth an upgrade. - The toaster... I know this is silly, but the toaster was hilariously not good. Just replace it! It's like $10! - Would be nice to have a larger collection of cutlery. For a house billed to accommodate large groups, there should be a lot of forks, knives and spoons so you don't have to run the dishwasher as often. Just a thought. Lastly, note that the house is constructed such that it's not well sound insulated. Thin walls and doors, so it is easy to hear what's going on floor-to-floor. Wasn't a problem for us, but FYI.

Relaxing!

We arrived on the island and found the house very easy. The driveway is gravel and quite steep but it’s short and once you are on the property you are relaxed! There were some cleanliness issues such as a vape pen stuffed in the cushion of the couch, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling fans upstairs and the basement bed had dirt and pine needles in the sheets. Since it’s a pet friendly home, expect a slight odor of dogs in the upstairs bedrooms. The house is laid out well and the bunk room on the main floor for the kids was perfect! The bedrooms upstairs are spacious with lots of storage. I wish the beds were more comfy as they were a lot harder than we prefer, but since it’s a vacation rental it’s understandable. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, silverware, dishes, coffee maker, toaster, etc! Everything we needed was there. The game room downstairs in the basement was so much fun! We played a lot of pool and board games. We also used the fire pit out the basement door in the grass. We saw lots of wildlife including deer who showed up to munch on the blackberries. The lake is just a short walk down two flights of steps and a short path away from the house. The dock is in great shape and it’s super peaceful at the lake. The marina for the community club is just a short drive away and there’s an lovely beach to walk on while you watch the boats, seals, birds, and other ocean life. We spent a lot of time on the main level balcony deck listening to the birds and enjoying the forest surroundings. If the cleaning crew paid a bit more attention to the overall cleanliness of the house, I’d give it five stars. Overall we had a wonderful time!

Forever FABULOUS fun

We had one FABULOUS vacation this week. We will forever have great memories. What a beautiful house, we were very impressed with the views, the three outside levels, all the bedrooms gave us space when we needed it and the gameroom brought us together for darts, pool, games and puzzles. We did smores at the fire ring for 2 nights. Having 3 bathrooms was so necessary. House was clean and just enough extra dishes, pots and pans to keep everybody fed. Kayaks were there for our first time experience and the lake was perfect. The Help line was terrific, and friendly. So, you must thinking, was there anything negative ? The only negative experience was the gravel driveway....BUT....we managed...SUGGESTION --- Keep the concrete entry swept clean and bring a professional in to pack that rock..I would be interested in coming back but that driveway needs attention. The island resident are so friendly, grocery store was very well stocked. Thank You VaCaSa....you will have my business in the future.

Absolutely not recommend!!

Me and my family stayed here for 3 days over the weekend. We came here to have fun in the water with our 5 kids, and we knew it was dog friendly. When we arrived, our minivan couldn't go up to the entrance. The car was dirty with gravel and sand, and the huge hill makes it difficult for the car to climb. We eventually parked downstairs and carried our luggage up the steep stairs. This stairway was impassable due to the raw blackberries, and we were able to climb it after removing the surrounding blackberries with the hatchet we took with us. Also at the end of the stairs there was an iron core which was very dangerous for the children and one of my children fell here and punctured her knee. The house smelled bad, it smelled like dog urine, and I couldn't even sit on the sofa because of the smell of dogs. All the big window screens were broken, so we visited on the hottest day of the year and we couldn't even open the windows because of mosquitoes. There was no air conditioning here. There was broken light on the narrow stairs going downstairs, so I needed a flashlight every time I went there, and the bathroom at the end of the stairs was not cleaned and someone pooped. It was a house we picked for swimming, but there were not enough towels and there was no soap. I've been to several vacation homes, but I can't find any description of the house anywhere, and the manager hasn't even been contacted. A house that couldn't communicate with anyone and couldn't deal with problems. For your own safety, think twice before visiting here.

Great spot for a quiet family getaway

We were excited given the overall good ratings, though a bit apprehensive due to some recent negative reviews. When we arrived our concerns were alleviated as everything was in good shape. The place was clean and the amenities were good. My family had a great vacation here. We agree with the two points made in other reviews that the place needs more silverware and the driveway (and stairway to the yard) is quite steep. There is a bonus parking spot at the bottom of the driveway we used for the one car we used to get around the island so we had to manage the driveway only upon entry and exit. The beaches and parks are great and we enjoyed taking the kayaks on the lake across the road. Overall I would highly recommend this property.
