Shipwatch oceanfront condominiums, offered by Hodnett Cooper, have been a favorite family destination for many years. With just 52 residences, Shipwatch is a quiet community ideal for both weekend getaways and multiple month escapes.

Each residence features two bedrooms, two full baths, a combined living, dining, and kitchen area, and a private balcony.

Community amenities include boardwalk access to the heart of St. Simons' sand beaches, a swimming pool, large grass lawn, outdoor grills and complimentary in-room high speed internet service.

Though this community is located directly on the ocean, individual residences, unless otherwise specified, do not offer ocean views.

Shipwatch 215 has been completely updated to include new tile flooring throughout, new furnishings, and an upgraded kitchen. This renovated condominium is one of Hodnett Cooper's nicest offerings at Shipwatch. The living area is equipped with a 40 inch flat screen TV. The balcony has a wonderful porch swing perfect for enjoying the outdoors.

PETS: Small pets are accepted with $150 non refundable pet fee.

Bedding Includes: 1 King, 1 Bunk Bed with queen on bottom and XL twin on top. 1 Queen Sleeper Sofa (with thick, comfortable mattress).

Beach Gear Credit Now Included Hodnett Cooper has partnered with VayK Gear, a beach delivery service provider to offer beach gear rentals to Hodnett Cooper guests in participating properties. Great Condo!

Condo is a short walk to the beach, close to restaurants & shopping and has a great pool area. Condo is equipped with all the amenities you may need.

Great place and great location. Pool was relaxing and loved that there were bathrooms by the pool so we didn’t have to go up to the room. The only issue was parking. Other than that we loved it!

Loved the dog-friendly atmosphere of the condo and property grounds. Private boardwalk to the beach was great also. Condo was good for our brief stay. It was very clean but did tend to get too warm in the guest bedroom even with the A/C turned low. Had to sleep in the living room coach pullout. A/C also made quite a bit of noise.

Missing the Basics for a Beach Vacation

Unit is smaller than it appears, which would have been fine but missing basic necessities like dish soap, hand soap, something to clean counters with after cooking. No extra towels provided. And was impossible to get across the long board walk to beach without being eaten up by mosquitos. Ended up having to battle the crowds at the public park beach access down the road. Complex pool was the best part of this location. Also not far from downtown area which is awesome. Would highly suggest management company keep the credit for bikes ect and provide basic supplies in unit.

air conditioner issue

We enjoyed our stay. We did have a problem with the air conditioner dripping water on the floor at the entrance. Someone came and did a temporary fix which lasted until our last day when it started dripping again. Since we were leaving the next morning we did not ask for a second fix.

Not ocean front

First of all it is far from the water if you are not in shape to walk far forget about it, our room was 215 Shipwatch it was dated first bathroom was dirty needed paint and cleaning, the sliding glass door were in bad shape the screen kept getting caught in the door, the view from the balcony was another building, when you walk down to the pool the decking is dirty the chairs are dirty the same bird crap on the cushions the sand in the pool has been there for 4 days never saw any one cleaning, I would not stay there again, the area is very nice

Disappointing

Location to beach good. There's a long walk past the dunes but that's the case most every where along the beach. Pool & pool area very nice, very clean. What was disappointing: Advertised as renovated condo but not when. Guest book in condo states renovated in 2008 so don't expect it to be newly updated or modern & lack of quality cleaning over the last 16 years shows, especially on the balcony deck, baseboards & tile grout. Biggest disappointment was the constant noise from outside property construction/renovations. Loud saws, sanders, drills, tools, etc., daily, unsafe conditions at times. Fence railings along elevated deck path/cat walk to our 2nd story condo entrance were removed while we were staying there without any prior notice. And we have a dog who did not want to cross to the door without strong direction. And the same for other guests who had young children! Why not delay the repairs/replacement of fence railings to the occupied condos until they were vacated, or notify guests beforehand? We had no idea all those outside renovations were going to take place the week - Memorial Day week no less - we were there. The 4th day of our stay someone taped an "Excuse our mess..." note from the HOA on our door. Had we known the renovations were going to be done during our vacation week we would not have reserved the condo. Shame on Hodnett Cooper real estate, VRBO & the condo owners for inaccurate advertising & omission of the renovation work going on at the property.

Cute unit but very small!

We stayed in Shipwatch Unit 215 the week of July 9-15, 2017. The unit has been updated with tile floors, beadboard, & 50's diner inspired kitchen table & barstools. The unit is cute but the Shipwatch units are very small with tiny kitchen, small family room, and very small bedrooms and bathrooms. The secondary bedroom had bunk beds with a full on the bottom with a twin pull out trundle & a twin top bunk which gives sleeping space for up to 4 as well as a sofa sleeper that can sleep two in the family room & a King bed in the Master. However the bedroom was so small that when the trundle was pulled out there was no room to walk & the closet doors couldn't be opened. The stackable washer and dryer is also located in a laundry closet in the secondary bedroom which is very aggravating as people trying to do clothes have to come in the bedroom which doesn't allow for much peace or privacy. It is also loud to have the washer and dryer going inside the bedroom. The unit was supposed to have 3 tv's but the one in the secondary bedroom was missing & the Master bedroom has a tiny tv making us think the tv in the Master had broken & they had taken the one from the secondary bedroom to the master. In today's day & time it is definitely a discomfort to not have a tv in the bedroom. The swing on the balcony was nice. The pool area is very nice & quaint. There was not enough parking in the parking lot. The wood decking that makes up the "hallways" & the wood steps is hard to maneuver & makes a lot of noise when pushing luggage and grocery carts. We are used to staying at Beach Club, North Breakers, and the Grand. I know Shipwatch is the oldest cond building on the beach it just seems very small and outdated compared to the condo complexes we are used to. We have decided Shipwatch is not for us & we will not stay there again.

Fun family time

Small family fall vacation, 4 of us. Great location! Had 2 small dogs, great area to walk them in and dog bags provided! Easy beach access. Parking a tad tight but we have cars so no problem for us. Pool area was nice. Plenty of room to sleep everyone. Living and kitchen a bit tight if you had more than 4 or 5 people but definitely doable. Small balcony to sit and enjoy fresh air. Two nice size bathrooms.
