Amazing location

Our trip in mid-May was just right for this cabin. The weather was ideal. We loved keeping the windows open throughout the day while we were out enjoying the park, and then sitting on the porch to enjoy the cooler evenings. The property managers at Redwoods did a great job. We loved traveling to the Yosemite Valley, but our best day was a long hike to the top of Chilnualna Falls.

Property had zero reviews so was a bit of a crapshoot. Exceeded expectations on all levels. Property manager uber responsive. Cleanliness a 10 out of 10. Slept 2 adults and 2 kids comfortably. Great experience.

Wonderful cabin that we usually stay in

Hastings Hideaway is a perfect size for a couple, and has a great location. It's well taken care of and nicely furnished, with a lovely deck. It has a king-sized bed, which is very nice, and plenty of blankets if needed. The kitchen is well stocked too, and the living room comfortable. (Only downsides were an outdoor light next door that's very bright, so there needs to be an agreement to turn it off at a certain hour. The driveway is also a bit rutted and could use some smoothing over - perhaps after this rough winter - but certainly driveable.)

It was fairly warm in the park this week and air conditioning or at least ceiling fans would have been nice. The cabin looked clean (swept/vacuumed) but when I dropped something on the kitchen floor and used paper towel to clean - I discovered the floor was very dirty! It was just okay for the 3 night stay.

It was a place to sleep

First impression was very disappointing. The cabin was stifling hot. There is no AC and I did not know this would be such a big deal there. It would have been nice to know in advance that this cabin heats up so much that it is not a nice hang out for down time. The mornings are cool but that is it. Had a couple of small maintenance issues that were not handled on time. This is a very basic and dated cabin. You just need to understand that going in since the price point is so high.

Unfortunately, August is very hot in Yosemite CA, so it is always suggested to choose a cabin with AC. Unfortunately, not all of our cabins have them, and they are privately owned so we always encourage our cabin owners to upgrade if they can. We list each cabin with AC or no AC for guest's convince. Very clean and pleasant cabin. Had a fully stocked kitchen and was the perfect stay for my husband and I. Took about an hour to drive to Glacier point and Taft Point. Would stay in this area again!

During the summer, you have the opportunity to relax in the south fork of the Merced River & cascading waterfalls. Enjoy a hike to nearby Chilnualna Falls, the Swinging Bridge, and the Meadow Loop Trail. Visit the nearby famous Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Enjoy fine dining and play golf at the historic Big Trees Lodge (formerly The Wawona Hotel), go horseback riding, fishing, enjoy Ranger walks and talks, or visit the Living History Center/Pioneer Village.

In the fall, the colors are spectacular as you enjoy the walking path around the golf course of the nearby historic Big Trees Lodge. See the nearby famous Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.

In the winter, the family-friendly Yosemite Ski and Snowboard Area (formerly Badger Pass Ski Area) offers snowshoeing, snowboarding, skiing, cross-country ski tours, and in Yosemite Valley enjoy the outdoor ice skating rink.

In any season our Wedding and Event Center is open for all occasions! Whether it's for a group ski vacation, business training, a family Christmas or Thanksgiving get together, or a reunion of any kind this is the perfect spot for all to gather. Our Wedding and Event Center comfortably seats 100 for group meetings, and 80 for formal dining.
