Craig - it is unfortunate you have chosen to provide such a negative review of our camp. We do everything we can to provide a positive experience for our guests and are certainly disappointed your experience was not positive. However, in contrast to your review, the other reviews are overwhelmingly favorable. I am surprised at some of the items you've mentioned, especially because many of them are addressed in the actual write up on VRBO. You had booked your stay several months in advance and certainly had time to read the material we shared. In fact, your original stay was going to be one week longer, but you emailed me two months out and asked if you could cut it short by a week. I gladly refunded you that money with no penalty, as soon as you requested. Our write-up on the VRBO site states clearly that the hiking trails and views are close by, not adjacent to the camp. It never states that anything is within "walking distance." In fact, in the detailed email sent to you in advance of your stay, it mentions that the state park is about one mile down the road and we provide a free pass so you can access hiking, swimming, etc. Also, in the detailed email sent to you, and ALL booked guests, it states several times that "my brother (NOT a "third party" but a co-owner,) lives across the street from the camp and will be your host. He will greet you and make sure you have everything that you need." It also provides his landline and cell phone. There is nothing in the description or amenities list that says we provide a picnic table. There is a screened-in porch with a table and a kitchen table as well. Maine in the summer works better with a screened in porch! Your suggestion about the hose is a good one, however and we will act on that immediately. My brother did share that you had requested he not come to the camp when you were there, and he suggested you put the bagged trash in the cellar so he could pick it up and take it to the dump. I do think that bagged trash should have been taken away sooner, absolutely. That has never happened with any of our other guests. I admit I missed your email request for an early exit from the camp, as I was away on a boat for several days. However, my brother, with whom you spoke several times, was available to discuss your request. When I returned, I did review my email and saw your concerns and contacted my brother and you immediately. Please see the copy of the email I sent you. below.
