What a charming home! We especially loved the Bible and attention to detail. My husband loved the quietness as he enjoys reading. The home is close to everything you need while vacationing! We enjoyed our time! Thank you for having us!

Best stay on the Banks

My wife and I have each been visiting OBX since we were kids. Our stay at the Ghost Crab Cottage was by far our best experience yet. The house is new, immaculately maintained, clean and so comfortable. Location is the perfect balance between the Sound and Ocean with easy access to walk/bike path. Our family stayed for a month and everyone loved it. Looking forward to our return! The Great Escapes OBX team is super responsive and helpful.

Loved staying here!

We loved staying here at Ghost Crab Cottage! Lets start with the inside of the house: I love how each room has its own bathroom and how clean the house was! I loved the layout and the neighborhood as well, its fairly close to almost everything in Corolla. The kitchen could use a little upgrade like a toaster oven and a new kettle (its rusted inside!) So its not usable. but overall it had everything we basically needed for the week. The exterior could use a power wash to get rid of all the bugs and spider webs EVERYWHERE, we couldnt really sit out because the chairs were very dirty, but theres little you can do because its so close to the sound and theres always more bugs near. Overall, we loved staying here and would love to stay here again!

Amazing stay

My family of 6 (4 adults, 2 children) had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Ghost Crab Cottage. The house is spacious and beautifully decorated. The community pool, fitness center, and tennis/pickleball courts were a short 8 minute walk away. The beach was also within walking distance, but we chose to drive to avoid having to carry all of our beach equipment with us. The house had all the kitchen supplies we needed and was well stocked with board games that our family really enjoyed. Our only minor complaint were the spiders/webs in the outside spaces. Also the kids room with the bunk beds was on the bottom floor near two doors and separated from the other bedrooms, which made us a little uncomfortable. We easily switched our sleeping arrangements a bit so the kids slept in one of the upstairs bedrooms, but it would have been helpful to know beforehand. Overall, it was an amazing stay and we would stay here again.

Ghost Crab Vacation

We loved the house set up and all the amenities it had to offer. The interior of the house was very clean, but the exterior part under the house needs a good power washing to remove all cobwebs and spiders. We liked that Monterey Shores has lots of amenities to offer but the down side of it is you have to make reservations to use all the amenities and they were always booked up so we were unable to go to pool several times and not able to use pickle ball courts. When at the pool they had no music playing, the exterior part of the pool area not kept up (lots of cobwebs) and offered no activities on July 4th. We were disappointed in the Club House. We did have a wonder time, made great memories and loved the atmosphere of the cottage.

Sorry you had a hard time with Monteray Shores Community Activities. We are aware of the exterior of the house. It is on a schedule of Power Washing every other week as it seems to be in a high wildlife zone.

We loved the property and it had all we wanted and more

We have been coming to Corolla for years and have stayed in dozens of properties. We loved the house and all it had to offer. There is only one thing that I think you need to address. Water pressure is really bad and for the size of the master shower it’s really bad. I’m a general contractor and do a lot of bathrooms. The water trickles out of the head. I almost removed it and was gonna see if there was a water saver it but did not have any tools with me. It would be a simple fix to improve that. We plan on renting this property again next year and hope that is changed. Jeff Bounds

House is great!

House is great! House was nicely equipped & clean. Outside of house could used some tlc ( front entrance and front porch railings could use a good sweeping of bug/cobwebs ). Pool at club (5min. walk) is a great break from the beach, especially for kids. The pool is nice and big and rarely crowded. The beach is beautiful (15 min. walk).

Great Stay!

My family of five enjoyed our stay at Ghost Crab Cottage! We originally booked this vacation home to share with another family of four but in the end, we were happy for the extra space as I think that it would have been tight living had everyone showed up. The kitchen was fully equipped... I can't imagine needing anything that wasn't already there! Ok- maybe a waffle iron but that's serious the list! We were pleased to find an XL pot for a seafood boil, every type of serving platter you'd need on vacation (even some for fancier occasions), as well as a popcorn maker and a George Forman grill! The location was great if you prefer to drive to most places. Grocery stores and restaurants were within a mile or two. The amenities were about an 8-10min walk (pool, tennis, bball, etc) and a 15min walk to the beach. It was fine but I thought we would have been closer. If you prefer to drive to these places, there are parking lots. The house was clean, new, and well maintained. There were games in the closet (badminton and volley ball), a couple body boards, and lots of beach chairs. It was a great stay!

Amazing home — wished for better communication about pool

We loved everything about our stay! The home was clean, well maintained, extremely well stocked, and we loved it! The only bummer, which was significant for us, was that the listing did NOT indicate that the community pool would not be open during our stay. We were even given instructions on how to reserve a reservation for pool time, and information about the pool. Monteray Shores community has a beautiful pool, but wasn’t opening it until Memorial Day weekend. We would not have booked this home if we had known that we wouldn’t have access to a pool, as this was on our “must-have” list when booking. (Most homes Open up their pool the 1st of May) This was very upsetting for us.

Beautiful home/Great location

My family really enjoyed our visit here! This a beautiful property and the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful! The home is very spacious and the yard is a great size as well. Our family had plenty of room for games and family activities on the property. We also took advantage of local amenities, within walking distance of the home. Check in and check out process was smooth and easy. Our main issue was the cleanliness of the space. Big Spider webs were everywhere. In every room but the closets. They were large, spread wide, and hung low from the lighting fixtures over the dining table, lamps and walls in the bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen. This really bothered the smaller children so before settling in we had to go through the house knocking down webs. This should have been taken care of by the cleaning crew as they were very apparent when walking into rooms. Also a few of the bathrooms were not cleaned well. There were bugs on the floor and particles on the toilets. Again, we had to re-clean before using. Also, many of the dishes had food pieces left on them. We assumed the dishwasher did not clean them as well as it should. If the cleanliness had been much better our vacation would have been rated 5 stars in all areas! With that being said, we loved our stay overall, made great family memories, and would definitely go back. The property manager is great to work with!

Great house and good location

Perfect house for vacation with family and / or friends in the OBX. The home is relatively new so everything was updated. Also, the house includes everything you needed for an enjoyable time at the beach. The only downside, however, was the stiff mattresses in the junior suites.
