This property is perfectly located. It’s near to recreational areas, the NC Aquarium, Fort Macon, Beaufort with the maritime museums, and plenty of antique and thrift shops. There are plenty of beach accesses also. The restaurants are great with fresh seafood. The house was clean and the host was attentive. The kitchen was fully stocked and the washer and dryer were really a plus. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

The outside was not as presentable as the picture, needing some cosmetic upgrades and some landscaping- however the inside of the cottage was charming, clean and cozy and a perfect quiet place for relaxation which was the purpose of our trip. Neighborhood very quiet and close to police department & fire department. Would definely stay again. Beds very comfortable!

Cute, informal atmosphere. We enjoyed the puzzles when we were too hot to be outside. Beds were comfortable, although pillows a little too fat. You'll need a car if you want to get to nicer beaches. The one thing we were wishing for was a way to make coffee other than Keurig, but the host did supply a good amount of K-cups.

This is an older property (built in 1930). From the photos, it looked quaint and what we were looking for. It is in a quiet location. It does not have central AC (not a problem for us) and instead has two window units which adequately cooled the home. The back porch is nice, but there are major sections missing in the screens. What you could not tell from the photos was that it was not clean. The living room and bedrooms have carpeting that is old, has several stains, and even sticky spots on it. The hard floors in the kitchen, dining room, and bath were kind of sticky as well. I've attached a photo of the bottom of my socks, which were white when I put them on, after one day of walking in the house, There is a noticeable stain on the long portion of the sofa which we covered with a throw. Both the kitchen and bathroom sinks looked like they were minimally wiped down prior to our stay and were not really clean. New flooring and a THOROUGH cleaning would make this a fine place to stay. But as it presents now, I would not stay there again.

We want guests to enjoy the charm of our 1930 home along with a clean, comfortable stay. While we’re glad the quiet location and window air conditioning were appreciated, we’re sorry to hear about the concerns regarding cleanliness and the porch screens. The home was cleaned before arrival, but we take the reported condition of the floors and seriously. These concerns warrant a careful review of our cleaning practice. Thank you for letting us know that someone tore the screen on the porch so we can get it repaired. For future guests, we encourage you to contact us promptly if anything needs attention so we have the opportunity to help during your stay. We appreciate this feedback and recognize that an older home’s character should always be accompanied by attentive care.

We enjoyed staying at Fish Tales Cottage. Perfect size for our family of 3 with a true cottage feel. A great location for access to the coast/island and north to New Bern.

Nice getaway!

This was a great space for a weekend getaway. Its a small cottage that works best for a family! Close proximity to playgrounds and the waterfront. The neighbors were nice and was just what we needed!

Wonderful in every way for family and friends

A special vacation celebrating a birthday with family and friends in a prefect setting and location. The house was cozy, nicely decorated and comfortable with a connection to historic Carteret County. It is conveniently located a short walk from the waterfront. Hard to imagine a more ideal cottage for us.

Perfect for us!

We needed a place to stay for a last minute fishing trip, and "Fish Tails" was everything we needed and more. It is very convenient to the Morehead City waterfront, local restaurants, etc. The cottage is very nicely appointented and maintained. We go down several times a year to go fishing, and this is now our first choice for future trips!

Excellent location—walking distance to restaurants and quick drive to the beach. Loved the screened-in porch. One window unit air conditioner can cool the living room and front bedroom, and the other bedroom has its own window air conditioner. Kitchen was a little warm. Would definitely stay here again. Only drawback was you have to pass through one bedroom to get to bathroom.

Super awesome cottage.

Small nicely decorated beach cottage. With owners easy to communicate with and ready to answer any questions along the way. We overslept and texted the owners to request a few more minutes to check out and they put no pressure on us. Giving us the time to not feel rushed in the morning to check out. Was an awesome stay.
