Pretty Woman
We have stayed in many VRBO homes/condos but this one stood out so much that we gave it a nickname, the Pretty Woman. The pictures online looked beautiful and updated, but when we arrived we could tell that it had been used A LOT. The place smelled like mildew. The carpet was so gross that we kept our shoes on the entire stay. When I tucked my kids in at night, I could smell the last family’s cologne/smell on the blankets. My college apartment was in better condition than this rental. Don’t be tricked by the pictures. This rental is gross.
We paid for two upgrades: heat the pool & use the grill. We bought a bunch of food to grill out and quickly discovered that the grill is completely rusted and barely standing. The pool was too hot to use so they turned it off after one day was then told that the deposit isn’t refundable once it was turned on. This was not in the contract. I had to fight to get a refund on these things. It took one month because the office wouldn’t put me in contact with the manager. The two people who work in the office (Ana and Yasmin) would tell me she wasn’t available, or she would call me back (never happened), or a few times when I called and asked to talk to the manager they would simply hang up on me. The lack of communication and avoidance was infuriating. I hope this review will save you the time, money and energy that we lost dealing with Magic Box.
