I rarely give five stars to any accommodation. Three stars means the facility was adequate, covered all the basic requirements of our stay, and without any major difficulties or disappointments. The two-bedroom unit is partially below grade, so we did find it dark and lacking in privacy in the bedrooms if the blinds were open. There is no master ensuite per se, but there are two full bathrooms. We were visiting our family who own a townhouse in walking distance and had most of our meals with them so we did not use our kitchen very much, which was good because the lighting was so poor it would have been uncomfortable cooking in the evening. I don’t know if guests steal light bulbs, but the kitchen lighting was more like mood lighting, and the lights were not working in the hallway. The main bedroom had a broken lamp. Half the dresser drawers had broken guides and care was needed when using them. The general theme of the home is a woodsy bear, bark, and branch style from maybe the early 80’s. It has a homey feel, like staying at your granny’s house might be -- clean but well used, and if not the most comfortable bed, certainly adequate. We did have a few earwigs to deal with in the kitchen and bathroom. To emphasize the positive, the location is good. It’s a short drive to downtown Lake Placid, the resort is very nice and access to the beach and water activities is great. Come here for the location, not to sit indoors.
