great scottsdale location

The kids loved the pool and hot tub, we liked the proximity to hiking and golf. Quiet complex, which was nice. The owner was very communicative and helped give ideas on things to do in the area. Lots of extra towels for the pool. TV worked with no issues, Wifi was great. We cooked a lot and there were dishes for our needs.

Rental unit Ok but owner unresponsive.

Many minor problems with the unit: broken coffee pot (never replaced), unwashed pans, damaged window blinds, faucet leak (which we fixed), bathrooms need updating. Kitchen appliances are good. Pots, pan, utensils and silverware are minimal. Other furnishings OK but minimal. No personal touches or attention to detail which I have found in other rentals. When I reported damages the owner said he will fix them “before the season?” meaning not for us. He never addressed any of our concerns and stopped responding at all on day 3.

Worst tenant I’ve had. She let me know that the kitchen faucet was leaky on Easter Sunday. She expected it to be fixed within hours. I was able to tell her my handy man could come by the next day. She left the key in the lockbox that afternoon while the she left for the day. My handyman came and fixed the sink. She texted me that evening and said “no sign of your handyman coming but the sink works now, and the coffee pot is now broken.” What kind of a sign was she expecting? It got fixed. You would think that’s enough? Was he expected to leave a note or a mess? What kind of sign was she expecting? There were no more communication after that exchange between either of us. Her last text message to me she admitted that the coffee pot glass broke while she was washing it. (It was replaced the day she left.) And there was always a backup Keurig coffee maker in the kitchen (I’ve noticed guest like variety with their morning coffee routine) She’s correct about the blinds. About a month earlier I had rented to a family with little ones who tugged on the blinds and broke them. I was able to fix some of the slats, but not all. Buying, measuring and installing new custom blinds cannot be done fast and I don’t want to bother guests on their vacation with projects going on. So I had to make an appointment in advance to have it replaced. And the blinds were being replaced, not just fixed. Really it was a blessing in disguise, much nicer and updated blinds are now in the condo. As far as the bathroom needing to be updated. Take a look at my pictures, they are accurate, not one other review has said otherwise. I appreciate constructive criticism. Read prior reviews and I take to heart what I need to fix or offer or update. And it happens. She texted me that because of a broken coffee pot and 3 slats missing from broken blinds that it felt to her that she was renting a place on the beach during spring break? That context explains a lot about this review. But her review is her opinion, so it’s what she experienced. I hope all future guests will be able to make a judgement on their own if they would like to book at my place or not. Hopefully my reply gives some context. Please know, things do break, and other reviews have noted that. What should be noted, is that when something breaks it gets fixed. Sorry, but that’s just part of renting a house or condo versus getting a room at a hotel.

Scottsdale Condo

Contacted by Steve that we could check in at anytime on 1/29. The condo was bright and spacious. Unfortunately, the verticals in the great room had been damaged and the light bulb over the master shower was out. Two kitchen non-stick pots were so severely scratched, that my wife gave them to Steve to discard. Dish soap, dishwasher detergent and dish cloths weren't available. Also, there were no hangers and no additional seating. In Steve's defense, all of the issues listed above were corrected in a timely manner. He even brought us new folding chairs. As other problems arose, he continued to work with us. For example, the furnace went out and he called the HVAC company. It was repaired two days later due to rain. I feel the condo is lacking in creature comforts. There is no cookware available that can be used in the microwave or oven. Steve said we could buy some and he would reimburse us. The stores only had sets, so we got by without and let him make his own decisions. We did find a 2 quart sauce pan, which he promptly paid us for. Overall, there were items that needed to be repaired. Towel bars were coming loose from the wall in the bathrooms. Both curtain rods in the master bedroom had the same problem. In conclusion, the owner needs to understand that when tenants arrive, everything needs to be in working order. Steve was easy to work with and took some of our suggestions under advisement. At this price point, it needs some improvement.

If you’re looking to rent a great condo, in a great neighborhood where when something breaks, the owner fixes it right away, then my condo is the right place for you! Please remember, everyone. You are renting a house, not staying at a hotel that has 24 hours a day service and employees. Please note: that what the tenant said was accurate about issues arising. He is correct, a lightbulb was not working the day he moved in, and some blinds were broken and replaced within hours on move in day. He did forget one thing in the review. He called me and complained that my utility closet where the hot water heater is kept, was unorganized and dirty. He cleaned it for me (I don’t know why) and said he should not be charged a cleaning fee because of that. Most importantly, every issue was fixed the same day as reported, except the furnace. That took 27 hours to have fixed from when it was first reported broken.

Good trip!

Pool was great and neighbors were very friendly. The place was as expected but we lacked a few basic kitchen things like a frying pan, hot pads and there was no cooking oils, just a few spices. Would have been nice to have pool towels for use and some extra lighbulbs since a few were burnt out and there aren't any ceiling lights in living area or bedrooms. Other places have had more which is important for a short stay when you don't want to buy all the extras. The host was very responsive during check in and out process. We enjoyed the location, had no problems with parking right by our unit and had a great stay!

Happy stay

Landlord was wonderful. He was super responsive to any problem. He even came over and gave me lessons to teach me how to use the unfamiliar TV remote. I would stay there again if possible.

Sally was wonderful. She stayed for 3 months. I was more then happy to come over and show her some tips. New TV’s and DVD players can be confusing. And written directions sometimes can’t be explained as well as a hands on approach.

Great Experience

Our stay was very enjoyable. When we arrived, the air was not working. We immediately called the owner and a repair man came out the very next day. As a home owner, I know things will and do go wrong, but I appreciate great customer service and that is exactly what we received.

Thanks for understanding that problems sometimes do arise when renting a condo. I’m really sorry that the AC went out. But the important thing was that it was fixed in less then 18 hours.
