Cliff at Lyons is a luxury countryside retreat in Kildare.Today the walled estate comprises a beautifully restored collection of rooms and cottages in historic, stone buildings, surrounding the former mill, courtyard and dovecote. Located just 30 minutes from Dublin city and Dublin Airport, the estate offers countryside tranquillity and period character in equal measure.

Our boutique Kildare accommodation is home to both The Well in the Garden Spa and to our outdoor wellness retreat, Village Thermal, situated in the heart of the village’s extensive gardens.

At the heart of the Cliff at Lyons, Shackleton Mill Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience in a spectacular setting. An exceptional place to enjoy lunch or dinner in Kildare, here you’ll enjoy refined seasonal food, much sourced directly from the estates bountiful gardens.

Accessed through a private entrance in the heart of the estate, the cottage opens up to an impressive formal lounge with garden views and terrace access. With silk, wooden panelling, stone floors and soft carpets throughout, décor is country classic in style with plush furnishings and an impressive grand fireplace.

Curl up on the cosy window seat with your favourite love story and watch the waters glisten in the evening light. Also on the ground floor, you will find a spacious open plan kitchen-dining room with seating for up to six guests enhanced by modern appliances and a spectacular Aga stove. Open antique French doors to the rear of the cottage and savour a private canal front terrace complete with stone barbeque, mature planting and comfortable seating.

Upstairs, the cottage boasts two large four-poster bedrooms, warmly named for two of literature’s most iconic romance characters, Romeo and Juliet. These stair-crossed guest rooms featuring Parisian inspired design complete with ensuite bathrooms and dual aspect views of both the canal and Lily Pond. Let the peaceful sounds of the waterways inspire a restful night’s sleep.
