The area is well suited to guests who want a peaceful stay while still being close to the action of central Scotland.
Motherwell is known for its open spaces, with Strathclyde Country Park just a short drive away. The park is one of the area’s biggest draws, offering scenic walking and cycling routes, watersports on Strathclyde Loch, play areas and cafés, making it ideal for families, outdoor lovers and anyone looking to unwind. Closer to the town centre, Dalzell Estate and the Baron’s Haugh nature reserve provide woodland walks and riverside paths in a quieter, more natural setting.
For entertainment and local culture, guests can enjoy match days at Fir Park, home of Motherwell FC, or visit nearby attractions such as M&D’s Scotland’s Theme Park and Amazonia, which are especially popular with families. Motherwell town centre is easily accessible and offers a good mix of high-street shops, supermarkets, cafés and traditional pubs, along with convenient retail parks nearby for dining and shopping.

Getting Around:
Motherwell is one of Scotland’s most well-connected towns, making travel from 339 Shields Road simple and convenient. Motherwell Railway Station is a key transport hub with frequent direct services to Glasgow city centre in around 15 to 20 minutes and to Edinburgh in approximately 35 to 45 minutes. This makes day trips, commuting and evening outings straightforward without the need for a car. Local bus services also run regularly throughout Motherwell and connect to nearby towns such as Hamilton and the wider Lanarkshire area.
For guests travelling by car, the property is ideally placed near major road links. The M74 motorway is only minutes away and provides a fast route into Glasgow as well as south towards England. The M8 is easily reached for direct travel between Glasgow and Edinburgh, while the A723 connects Motherwell with Hamilton and surrounding areas. The nearby A725 offers quick access to East Kilbride and major shopping and business districts. Taxis and ride-hailing services are readily available, providing flexible door-to-door transport at any time of day.
Other Things to Note:
- NO SMOKING INSIDE: We kindly request that smoking be avoided inside the premises. Any indication of smoking will incur a fee of £300 for odor removal, duct cleaning, and furniture cleaning. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
- We do require a separate short term rental agreement to be signed directly with us and a pre-arrival form filled prior to your stay.
- LOST KEYS: If keys are lost, a £100 replacement fee is required.
At Vacant Nests, we’re dedicated to ensuring our property is protected throughout every guest stay. To provide peace of mind for both owners and guests, we require all guests to either have a £400 fully refundable security deposit hold placed on their account or purchase a £40 one-time Accidental Damage Waiver, which covers up to £500 of accidental damage during the stay.

Home from Home
We recently stayed at The Muirhouse with Vacant Nests and had a great experience. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. Ryan was incredibly responsive throughout our stay, which made everything smooth and stress‑free. We couldn’t find a single issue with the property and would happily stay again.
