Lola Summerhouse is a truly unique countryside retreat, a beautiful brick-built space dating back to 1790, thoughtfully and fully renovated in 2020 to bring it up to modern-day standards while carefully retaining its original charm, character, and sense of history. The result is a warm, elegant and versatile space where old meets new in the most effortless way.
Designed around a studio-style concept, Lola Summerhouse offers a large open-plan living and sleeping area that feels both spacious and уют yet incredibly functional. Whether you’re visiting as a couple seeking a peaceful escape or a family looking to reconnect, the space adapts seamlessly to your needs.
The main living area combines comfort and flexibility, with a luxury king-size bed, up to three single beds, and a king-size sofa bed. This allows for a variety of sleeping arrangements, making the cottage ideal for up to 5 adults or 2 adults with up to 3 children (maximum 5 guests in total).
By day, the space is open, light and perfect for relaxing; by night, it transforms into a cosy and restful sleeping environment.
Separate from the main space, you’ll find a beautifully appointed luxury dining kitchen, fully equipped with high-quality appliances including Dualit and NEFF, along with everything you need, from cookware and crockery to glasses for those slower evenings. There is also a separate internal shower room and WC, connected via a corridor, giving the layout a sense of privacy and flow. A setting designed for slowing down.
Step outside and you’ll find yourself surrounded by open countryside and far-reaching views, the kind that naturally encourage you to pause, breathe, and simply be. Just opposite the cottage is your own private patio area, perfect for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
For something extra special, a large outdoor cooking and entertaining area is also available to hire separately. This includes a wood-fired pizza oven, log BBQ/hog roast and a large seated fire pit, ideal for creating unforgettable evenings under the stars.

At This Is Not Here, everything we do is centred around creating relaxed, stress-free countryside escapes. Our cottages are furnished to the highest standards and designed to offer a calm, tranquil environment where you can truly switch off.
We kindly note that Lola Summerhouse is not suited to hen or stag parties, or similar lively gatherings. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat to enjoy meaningful time with family or friends, surrounded by nature and beautiful interiors, then you’ve found exactly the right place.
More than a stay – an experience
The concept behind This Is Not Here comes from years of global travel, from the simplest stays to the most luxurious. Every lesson learned has gone into creating something truly special: a place where it’s not just about staying somewhere, but about how that stay makes you feel.
Each cottage has been meticulously designed with carefully chosen décor, antiques, artwork and furnishings, many with their own stories. You’ll find pieces such as prints from renowned wildlife artist Robert E Fuller, alongside unique items that give the space its distinctive personality. Some pieces are even available to purchase, allowing you to take a part of the experience home with you.
Our aim is simple, that you leave with a five-star “wow” feeling and return again as a familiar friend.

Pet-friendly stays
We welcome up to 2 well-behaved pets free of charge (additional pets by arrangement). We simply ask that pets are not left alone in the cottage and are kept off beds and furniture.

We are proud to be on a sustainability journey, with a strong focus on supporting local wherever possible. The cottages benefit from ground source heating and are powered by green electricity.

Lola Summerhouse is set within the grounds of our main country house, behind secure gates with your own private access code, allowing you to come and go freely. It also benefits from a secure bike store and electric vehicle charging facilities.
The cottage sits within a peaceful, traditional farming village with stunning views across the Yorkshire Wolds. It’s perfectly positioned for exploring:
