The popular Victorian resort of Saltburn, only a few minutes’ drive has an abundance of lovely tea rooms, good restaurants and interesting shops. Take the cliff lift believed to be the oldest working funicular railway in the UK, making its first 120ft decent on June 28th 1884. The North York Moors lie to the south, with ample walking opportunities and attractions such as the Danby Moors Exhibition Centre and continue to the vibrant market town of Helmsley with ruins of a Norman castle. Redcar provides an ideal base for visiting many attractions.
