Booking was done on 12th April. Host contacted on 9th May about sleeping arrangement 9th May, host responded 17th May.
Host sent entrance code on check in day 19th June AM. Check in is from 3PM.
We arrived at 6PM to see that the property was completely left in a disgusting state. rubbish everywhere, dirty bed sheets etc. Contacted the host via chat function with no reply.
Contacted vrbo help desk who gave me the host number. Rang the host who was very short with me (a lot of people and kids in the background) saying "I am going to check what happened, it will be done" then pretty much hung up.
Made vrbo aware that we were leaving our bags for dinner and expected the flat to be clean and ready when we were coming back, and asked them for a plan B which they refused to start thinking about.
When came back to property, nothing had been done. Had to waste more time with vrbo online and the phone at 11PM who know said to book another property for 1 night only and that they will reimburse a flat fare. Told them I did not wish to access the property for 2nd night and they sent listings of properties/hotels for me to book within their price range but for the wrong date (in a month) so was actually five times more expensive..
vrbo now refuses to reimburse the difference. Filing official complaint.
