Luna Rossa - Vier Schlafzimmer Villa, Schläft 8
Luminous, airy, and seemingly floating above the southern tip of Puglia, Luna Rossa is a harmonious home where al fresco living reigns supreme. Surrounded by terraces, emerald lawns, and dry-stone walls in honeyed local stone, the property's elevated position offers fabulous vistas out over the sparkling Ionian Sea. And with an infinity pool and endless sandy beaches just a few minutes' drive away, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to simple summery pleasures.
Inside: accommodation at Luna Rossa is laid out over two floors.
The main entrance leads into the central hub of the home, a bright, open-plan living and dining area with a glass table and chairs and a sofa and TV. Sliding glass doors on both sides lead out onto panoramic terrace looking out to sea. With its clean lines, its pristine, uncluttered aesthetic, and its airy, summery atmosphere, this space typifies the design of the property as a whole.
Opening off one end of the living and dining area is the compact but well-designed contemporary kitchen, and next to this is the first bedroom, a light-filled double with a modern four-posted bed, sea views, an en-suite shower room and terrace access.
At the other end of the communal space, meanwhile, is the second bedroom, another luminous sea-view double with terrace access and an adjacent shower room.
From a landing outside the second bedroom, a staircase leads down to the lower floor, which is home to a living room and two more bedrooms, a twin and a double with en-suite shower rooms and access to a stairwell with steps up the gardens.
Outside: Luna Rossa’s al fresco areas have been designed to make the most of the property’s elevated position above the southern tip of Puglia.
On either side of the central living space, are a pair of shaded terraces, each one offering a different set of delights.
The first, also accessed from the two upper floor bedrooms, is furnished with a cushioned sofa and easy chairs and gazes out over a 180-degree arc of greenery and the silvery waters of the Ionian Sea. From the covered sitting area, it fans out to wrap around the crystalline waters of the infinity pool, which has a shallow, beach-effect ledge and more of those gorgeous views.
The second terrace hosts a secluded and well-shaded al fresco dining area with views out over the surrounding olive groves, and a well-equipped outdoor kitchen.
Where the terraces end, the gardens begin, especially below the pool, where there is a large expanse of emerald lawn bordered by dry-stone walls and fragrant, low-lying shrubs.
Last but not least, is the fabulously panoramic roof terrace, which is accessed via stairs from the al fresco dining area. With its transparent glass balustrades, this is a fantastic spot in which to enjoy early morning yoga and sunset aperitivi.
Due to the nature of the property including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.
Luna Rossa features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a small drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.
Luna Rossa is located at the southernmost tip of the Salento peninsula overlooking the beachfront villages of Marina di Felloniche and Marina San Gregorio, both of which are just a few minutes' drive away.
The coast is characterised by pristine sandy beaches, rocky coves, lazy seaside villages and some superb Baroque and Liberty architecture. Just 4.5km away is the charming town of Santa Maria di Leuca, which offers a good selection of restaurants, bars, shops and an internationally famous yachting marina.
In terms of beaches, you could hardly hope for a better spot, thanks to the long expanses of fine sand that run for mile upon mile up the Ionian coastline. There are many options, including Baia di Ciardo, which is just 900m away. Others, include Felloniche, Marina San Gregorio, Torre Vado and Marina di Pescoluse. The Adriatic coastline, on the other hand, is rocky and dramatic, characterised by Karstic sea grottos and deep inlets that have been gauged out of the limestone cliffs over millennia, making it a fascinating location for boat trips.
The unmissable baroque town of Lecce is just over an hour's drive, and there are several other beautiful towns even closer, including the fortified Ionian island town of Gallipoli (40mins) and its Adriatic sister, Otranto (1hr).
Salento is also home to many charming, off-the-beaten-track towns and villages tucked away in the gentle countryside. Each one has its own particular character, history, gastronomic specialities and we highly recommend you visit a few.
