I was looking forward to this stay, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. I booked about two days before arrival, but received a VRBO confirmation right away. Communication with the host was very difficult. We messaged multiple times on the app before and during arrival day without hearing back. When we finally reached him (after contacting VRBO, who intervened), he explained he was new to hosting and apologized, which I appreciated. We were assured by him that we would be able to check in the following morning, and VRBO graciously covered a hotel for the gap night.However, the check-in process never came together. I received a text message from the host (not on the app) at 4am saying it would actually be 3pm instead of the morning. After that, communication stopped completely and we never received check-in instructions. 3pm even came and went, and nothing from him. Ultimately, we had to call VRBO and cancel the reservation. VRBO did refund us in full, but we were left scrambling to find alternate accommodations at the last minute late into that night because of prior commitments during the day. As a result, we lost money and valuable time trying to secure somewhere to stay.We understand that everyone is new at some point, and we genuinely hope the host gets more comfortable with the platform. Frankly though, the lack of communication and reliability made the experience very stressful for our first 48 hours in London.
