With this being the original 1850's built building for the Daily Picayune Newspaper, later to become the Times-Picayune Newspaper until 1969, it all comes together with the centralized location and the framed pages of the historic newspapers on the walls. Each of our condos in the building has a different "themed" decor and framed pages of the newspapers, over the 175 years in the building, relating to the themed named section of the newspaper. We want you to enjoy your time in our beloved city, want you to feel like a "local" with the tips, suggestions and tidbits of our life, traditions and cultures here, sent to you prior to your check in, so you can plan activities of the touristy things and some of the hidden treasures we have here that only the locals know about. Safety is important when in a different city, so that was comforting to hear. Those are Memory Foam mattresses, so when in a two bedroom / 2 bath, one of the beds is firmer than the other one, as we try to offer that variety of comfort. When you understand it was the original home of the Times-Picayune Newspaper, it all makes sense for the location; the journalist had to be near, walkable or a streetcar ride away from getting the scoop and then coming back to have it typeset and printed. It is rare to have in room coffee, bottled waters, Gatorades, laundry detergent & fabric softener sheets for the washers & dryers, but we live here, eat here and have food drip on our clothes, so why should you have to leave all those stains or drips on your clothes, until you get home?! We could not have your kind words about how clean and tidy this one bedroom / 1 bath condo was without our dedicated Housekeeping Krewes, that are very detailed orientated and the backbone of our happy guests. Halloween parade, whether that was your plan on not, it is an annual event parade, second to any of our Mardi Gras parades that is a "must see" yet hard to explain if you have never been here before. We cannot express enough what a perfect location this is to all there is to see, go, do and eat while in downtown New Orleans ( or while being here to work for the week ). So glad you thought this condo was clean, roomy and always important to have a comfortable bed to get that much needed rest so you can get out there for the next day's adventures. I hate that you could hear that, it's weird, because the alley is too narrow for the trash trucks to make that turn to get down the alley, and dump those big dumpsters, so they have to be rolled to the streets on either end of the alley, and then picked up and dumped, so wow, is Picayune Alley a full on echo chamber! We would love to have you back, should you have another extended stay for work and have a few condos that will rent out for a full month at a time, until you can find a permanent place to live, if you get transferred to our beloved city.
