A Wonderful Cottage and a Wonderful Stay
I chose Evenlode because of its location in Stow, but I continued looking at other places. Nothing compared to Evenlode; at least on the website. Its location (just off the Market Square) and its facilities were appealing, and the photographs made it look very attractive.
I arrived on April 27th and immediately wished I'd come sooner. What a wonderful spot. Beautiful rooms, immaculately clean, equipped with everything I could possibly want, including parking for my car in a private courtyard. My first afternoon, I wandered around Stow - a wonderful village and a perfect place from which to explore the Cotswolds - then ended that first day having a Guinness at one of the pubs bordering on the Square. Sipping my stout, watching the world go by, with spectacular spring weather. I was too tired to explore much more, but did so the next morning. Stow was simply lovely.
I ran into one problem on Monday evening, but the response from the lovely woman who cares for the cottage, and the support from the owners (who live a couple of miles away) was exceptional. This made me confident that should anything go amiss, help would be close at hand. Thank you again, Dave, Julie, and Katie.
I far prefer a self-catering spot to staying in a hotel, and you could hope for no finer accommodation than Evenlode. I've written family and friends to highly recommend that they consider Stow and Evenlode if they found themselves in the area. It was the perfect vacation. And if I had my way, I'd be staying there still.
