Amazing Property - Central to Taos and the Ski Valley

The stay was immaculate, this property felt on the upscale side decorated with beautiful regional art and pottery. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we will be looking at this property next time we visit the area.

Disappointed

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is amazing, the views were spectacular. When we got there the lights to the hallway did not work, call the handler she told me where new bulbs were at, but it didn't work, and she came the next day and it was a tripped breaker. We told them the downstairs bathroom commode did not flush properly and house smelled of gas. She told us to crack the window, and it would fix it. By the next morning, I had a headache, and we had to open all the doors and keep them open to clear the gas smell. So, we had to build a fire to keep the house warm. By that night the commode stopped up downstairs on the main floor and we finally found a plunger but when we used it, it came up into the bathtub. We called, they told us to shut the door and put a towel under the door (it was Sunday). So if anyone had to use the bathroom they had to got upstairs into the master suite to use it. Thank goodness it was on the second floor, or it would have done the same thing. We got lucky there! They had a plumber come the next day, the septic was full and he told us the owners knew of the smell because they had a professional gas stove that was not properly vented (there was no vent at all). So, they knew but never disclosed it. I would not have rented it because I get migraines. The management team called us Sunday night and said they would look into it and get back to me. Low and behold have heard nothing from them. The downstairs bathroom tile on the tub had fallen off and was just laying there. There was mold in the upstairs master shower. It's in the mountains so you will get some bugs but I had to vacuum the dead bugs up myself even though the lady said she was going out to prep the house for us that morning. On the bright side was got some amazing sunset pictures! The people were nice.

Wonderful, Picturesque, Relaxing

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This home is beautiful with a perfect floor plan and incredible views!! Our grandkids said it’s the nicest house they’ve ever stayed at! And we must agree. The 8 of us slept comfortably and had lots of room to spread out. The house was cozy and stayed warm. The kitchen is stocked with dishes and cook ware and a coffee pot. The house was clean but could use a deep clean. The house is near a quaint little town square if a quick market trip is needed. Easy drive to ski valley and Taos plaza. Also a delicious restaurant is very close (Sabroso’s). Word of caution though, the road to get to the house is terrible but I hear that’s normal for roads in Taos. We managed fine with our 4 wd vehicles but the weather was great. Not snowing or frozen. It wouldn’t prevent us from staying here again though. Overall it was a wonderful house!

We'll be back!

If you are looking for a laid back, secluded and cozy home base while exploring Taos, Arroyo Seco and Taos Ski Valley, Alto Salto is your place! The property is amazing but could use some TLC. Previous reviews have mentioned cleaning and maintenance issues. Gas range needs attention. Dishwasher should be secured so it doesn't tip out when open. Some bedding needs updating. Dumpster was full. Definitely need 4x4 to get up the drive. Pro tip: remove silver jewelry before getting in the hot tub! Glen the caretaker was great, answered questions quickly and scrambled to get us in on time. Overall great experience. We'll be back!

Great spring break trip w the fellas!!!

3 dads, sons and buds snowboard trip to Taos Ski Valley. Road up to house is as advertised, bumpy w lil rough terrain and AWD/4WD is recommended. Great view, plenty of room(3 bedrooms and a study) and 25 min door to slope easy ride. Washer/dryer excellent ✔️ kitchen excellent ✔️ Couches/sleeper part needing to be replaced, downstairs bathroom shower handle needs to be re done or replaced, TV instructions in living area might be helpful, we happily bought new paddles and balls for ping pong table(needs new net as the other is kind of rigged up) as all the others were torn up in a basket. Kitchen and living area a great set up for meals and group. If dine out do a lil prep each day w a plan(hours of operations for restaurants, travel time, etc) as drive back into town for meals or take out is about 20 mins. Once again, we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property/area.

Beautiful property but with maintenance issues

Alto Salto is a beautiful, secluded property with stunning views overlooking Taos. That being said, there were many maintenance issues that have not been remedied as was pointed out in a previous two-star review. There is a gas odor emanating from the stove and only one burner would light. The outdoor grill lit for five minutes then went out as we were trying to cook a steak. There are two unusable doors including the main entrance. The handle on the door going to the back fell off as I tried to open it. It was warm during our stay so we opened the windows. There are holes and cobwebs in the screens letting flying insects inside. One of the knobs came off as I was attempting to open one of the screens. The master shower head needs to be replaced as water spirted out from all sides hitting the window and making for an uncomfortable shower. There are outdated TVs and we were unable to get them to work. The sofa in the living room is broken. The dishwasher comes out from the wall and the bottom rack falls off. I wanted to hand wash the dishes and looked for some detergent under the sink, only to find an empty bottle. In spite of these issues, we spent many hours on the lovely porch enjoying the view. The landscaping invites many birds to the flowering plants and the minute I put up a hummingbird feeder, I had numerous takers that swarmed and were a delight to watch. With the maintenance issues resolved, this place would definitely receive a five-star review.

Stunning view. Large house with plenty of room for us to spread out. Location was perfect for our daughter, who lives in Taos, to stay with us and go to work at TSV. Communication with property management and caretaker was great. An upgrade of TVs would be appreciated but would not keep us from staying again. Could only help with doing 1 load of laundry when we left due to lack of laundry soap, sorry for this. Definitely recommend.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family and I appreciated the setting, the views, and the space in general, but there were a number of things that were less than ideal:The instructions stated that all trash must be bagged before being put in the dumpster or we would be charged a fee, but there was a fair amount of loose trash in the dumpster when we arrived. The oven looks great, but is not completely functional and there's a strong smell of leaking gas from the stove. The head on the master shower is terrible. There are lots of little bugs in the house - mostly ants and small wasps - and lots of others (large wasps, etc.) come in through the screens if you open the windows. The heavily scented laundry detergent used on the sheets and towels makes the game room essentially unusable, since the washer and dryer are right next to the ping pong table and waft this fragrance, and more importantly sleeping and bathing are a nightmare. My family and I are very sensitive to artificial fragrances and the detergent seriously detracted from our ability to enjoy our vacation. Most significantly, the house has a serious rodent problem. There were piles of sunflower seed shells and rodent droppings in both of the beds in the downstairs front bedroom. The caretaker offered to have someone come out, but I didn't want to spend the week dealing with someone else's rodent problem. I'm still finding it difficult to believe that nobody even checked these beds before we arrived. We heard rodents in the walls throughout our stay. There were a collection of Christmas decorations that were probably nice in December, but made the house feel uncared for. It really needs a deep cleaning and door knobs, torn and missing screens, etc. need to be fixed. I shared all of this with Premier Properties, who said they would call to discuss these issues, but I have not heard from them yet. While my family and I enjoyed our time together, the house left a lot to be desired.

Great Location for a Family Vacation!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had 6 Adults, 3 Kids and 1 Dog at the house for the week of Thanksgiving.We had plenty of room to spread out and relax. During some vacations you feel like you're on top of one another at all times, but that is not the case here.You could always find a place to read, hang out on the patio, soak in the spa, play table tennis, hike up the mountain, or just sit in front of a fire place.The kitchen was was nice and made cooking for 9 extremely easy. The dining room table was the perfect size for us to eat all our meals together as well as play board games in the evenings.Had it been any cooler, I think that we would have needed more fire wood, but the radiant floor heat made it very comfortable in the house and the fire places weren't "needed", but more for creating a wonderful ambiance. I have family in Taos and visited there for many years. This location was great for getting into town and visiting the Plaza and being so close to the Ski Valley it would be extremely convenient for that too. We hope to come back in the spring letting the kids get to enjoy the awesome skiing that Taos has to offer.

A Unique and Incredibly Private and Beautiful Property

Reviewer Comments: We rented this house for 5 weeks so we could bring our beagles with us while we skied everyday at Taos Ski Valley. The property is so gorgeous with incredible views of the area. It worked out perfectly for our needs, it is very spacious and we were able to exercise our dogs easily in the area. The road to the property is incredibly challenging during the winter. It is not regularly plowed or maintained so it is extremely muddy on the warm days and a pretty hairy ride on the snowy days. We had an all wheel drive SUV with snow tires and we were fine but it is definitely something to be planning for ahead of time or you will be stuck 1.1 miles away from help. We would definitely rent here again!

Amazing experience at Arroyo Seco!

We came on our annual trip to Taos for the Lighting of Ledoux Street. Getting to stay at Arroyo Seco was beautiful. The views are amazing. The house was perfect for our family. Plenty of fun things to do at the house. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to cook large meals in. House was clean and comfortable. We also loved the hot tub. Great time for our entire family!

Beautiful property

This was such a beautiful area and was exactly what we were looking for in terms of location. You can't beat the view from the hot tub! Our only quibbles would be little things like the dishwasher wasn't bolted in so we were so nervous to have it tip out. There were two fire places and an outside fire pit, but only a few sticks of firewood and nothing to clean ashes out. We went and got our own wood, but it was hard to find because the few places we looked at the wood was green. The property could do with some refresh, i.e bathroom fixtures, missing screens, but it had a great variety of books and many hours were spent on the ping pong table. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and the area!

It took until 7:30 pm until it was partially cleaned & we asked the caretaker to leave & not bother finishing. We had driven a long 12 hrs & were very tired. We had hoped to relax & watch our Sat night college football games & watch movies. Unfortunately , we stayed at VRBO from Sat until Wed and never had any TVs working. The Wi-Fi worked properly, but the non Smart very out dated TVs had multiple useless remotes. And the caretaker could never get the TVs working doing our 5 day stay.
