Lowestoft town includes the Harbour and South Pier and further along is Pakefield Beach, a popular spot for fishing and a site of special geological interest. The local buses stop at the end of North Parade Road and Lowestoft Railway Station is nearby which connects to Norwich and onwards.

It is a short drive to Oulton Broad, the southern gateway to the Norfolk Broads. Oulton Broad is perfect for sailing, rowing and windsurfing. Rookery Park Golf Club is a 10-minute drive, with several other golf courses nearby. Other places to visit include Africa Alive and Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park. Great Yarmouth is only 20 minutess by car and offers a long sandy beach, horse racing and a seaside experience.
