The apartment offers a relaxing double bed and the comfortable sofa-bed for smaller groups.
Calming and comfortable would be the words to best describe this apartment! The décor is modern and clean and the space is light and well equipped. The open plan kitchen / living space caters for all needs, with a great area to relax, space to dine (or work if business is your reason for visiting) and the kitchen has all you need for cooking up a feast!
The bedroom has a very comfortable double deluxe pocket sprung mattress to help you nod off and the shower-room has the essential toiletries provided because, let’s face it, we’ve all forgotten shower gel before!
ACCESS:
The apartment is one of three in the building and is located on the first floor, up one flight of stairs. We operate a self check in using a keysafe, and you will be provided with the details on the day of your arrival.
WHAT TO SEE & DO:
Roath is a really popular and vibrant area of Cardiff, with everything on your doorstep.
There are an array of restaurants and cafes of all cuisines on the doorstep, especially around the corner along Wellfield Road. It’s recently had a write up in ‘Wales Online’ as becoming one of the best places to eat out in Cardiff!
If you prefer to don the apron yourself, you can find supermarkets (Sainsbury’s & Tesco’s) a stones throw from the apartment, or there is always the famous Cardiff Market in the city centre. Formally the old jail (but don’t let that put you off!) you can find stalls full of all sorts of fresh and cooked ingredients.
You are spoilt for shopping options in Cardiff, with small boutique shops on and around Albany Road and the larger shopping arcades and centres in the centre itself.
If you are visiting for history and culture then Cardiff certainly has plenty to offer, with William Burges’ Cardiff Castle (the interior is definitely worth a tour!) and the National Museum of Wales which is free (donations are gratefully received however!). It’s worth looking on the Visit Wales website to find out more.
The Principality Stadium’s reputation precedes itself (especially for all the sporting fans) and is a 35min walk, 13 min drive and about 20mins on the bus.
We could go on and talk about The Bay, Motorpoint Arena, St David’s Hall, Roath Park, Barry Island (for the Gavin & Stacy fans!), the Brecon’s and so much more but if there is anything you'd like to know more about, please let us know.
TRANSPORT:
You are in a really good spot for getting around in Roath, with pretty much everywhere in walking distance, however regular buses to and from the city centre as well as taxis are available.
From Cardiff Airport you can get a bus to the city centre (Canal Street) which takes about 30 mins.
When you arrive in the centre a very short walk to Bute Street will enable you to catch a bus to Alfred Street, Albany Road and you are a 2 min walk from the apartment.
The buses are very regular and go all over Cardiff and the surrounding areas (including Cardiff Bay), so do check out the traveline.cymru website to plan your journey. Alternatively Uber does operate in Cardiff (about 6 mins to the city centre and usually around £7), as well as other taxi firms: Dragon Taxis, Premier Taxis and Capital Cabs (all numbers you can find online).
It is worth a mention that the Universities are very accessible from the apartment on foot or via bus too.
Trains from Cardiff Central run regularly and this is a great way to go further afield without the stress of driving and parking. Some destination examples are: London – 2hrs, Bath – 1hr, Swansea – 1 hr. The GWR website is useful to check out routes and timetables.
Other modes of transport that are worth a mention if you are more of an outdoors fan are the water taxis that you can catch to take you along the River Bute (Cardiff Boat) or from the Castle to the Bay (Aqua Bus). Also for the cyclists, there is Pedal Power and Cardiff cycle Tours who you can rent a bike from and go along the Taff Trail.
