The Space:
Cragg Cottage is a recently refurbished holiday home with plenty of style. Upon entering, you’ll find the living area. With exposed beams, neutral-coloured walls, wooden flooring and two comfy velvet sofas, a matching armchair and a log burner, this is the perfect place to relax on an evening. Turn on the flat screen TV to watch your favourite shows.
Continue onwards through the doorway and you’ll enter the kitchen. With light walls and herringbone style wood flooring, this room has been beautifully decorated. Fully equipped for all stays, the kitchen has an oven, hob, toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. You can also gather your loved ones here to enjoy a home cooked meal at the dining table which comfortably seats six guests.
On the first floor, you’ll find three bedrooms. Each room boasts a comfortable mattress, plush bedding and a tranquil feel. Ideal for family holidays and group stays, the first room features a double bed, and the other two rooms have single beds. Each space has pops of colour added through soft furnishings while exposed beams and stone in one room continues the traditional vibe that runs throughout Cragg Cottage.
On the same floor is the family bathroom which has a bath with an overhead shower, WC and basin.
From the first floor landing, you can take the stairs up to the final bedroom. Spanning the full top floor, this cosy room boasts a double bed, bedside drawers and separate chest of white wooden drawers.
Outside at the rear of the property, you’ll find a private patio area which a large table for six underneath a pergola. There is also a sheltered lawned area that is a real sun trap.
Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to Cragg Cottage are accessed via a key safe box, and full details will be provided prior to your stay.
Pay & display parking is available nearby. Details will be provided prior to check in.
One well behaved dog is welcome to stay at Cragg Cottage per reservation.
Please note that due to the traditional nature of Cragg Cottage, the stairs inside the property are quite steep.
The Neighborhood:
Cragg Cottage is located on the west side of Whitby where you’ll be able to revel in the nostalgic seaside charm - head to the arcades or explore the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.
Venture over the swing bridge and you’ll find narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland, some of which can be explored just a short distance away from Riverrun. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
Getting Around:
You’ll find restaurants, pubs and shops just in a short walk from Cragg Cottage.
Whitby train station is located in the centre of town so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 and X94 travel along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
