Porters Cottage is a beautiful detached property set in quiet countryside with a south facing fully enclosed garden. A real home from home the cottage provides extremely comfortable accommodation for up to 4 guests offering 2 spacious bedrooms both with ensuite bathrooms. Pets are very welcome. Rollesby is four miles from the nearest sandy beaches and four miles from river access to The Norfolk Broads at Potter Heigham. Ideally situated for walking, bird watching, sailing, beaches, sea-side and family attractions. The village has a delightful cafe/restaurant overlooking Rollesby Broad serving morning coffee, lunches and afternoon teas at The Waterside - guests can take a trip on the Broad on Gentleman Jim, weather dependent! The Boathouse is two miles from the cottage, a newly refurbished pub, restaurant and wedding venue overlooking the Broad. Stunning beaches at Winterton on Sea are just 10 minutes away with the famous Grey Seal colony at Horsey just a few miles further along the coast.

Lovely cottage. Really quiet location…ideally placed to explore the broads. Minor issue with fridge resolved very quickly with no hassle. Nice big garden for our chocolate lab.

Norfolk getaway

Porters cottage is a very well thought out property. It has most of the things you need while staying and is comfortable and homely. The garden is a good size for a medium sized dog and the area is a good base.

Dear Denise Thankyou for your review. Im sorry you felt the furniture and cottage needs a freshening update. The entire property was redecorated in October 2021. The cottage is a very old property and l have chosen a style l feel is inkeeping with the period. I personally dont think a super modern look would work in such a property. Perfect stay for our family of four and our dog

Just back from an absolutely perfect stay. The cottage is beautifully furnished and so comfortable. Our dog was absolutely in her element with the enclosed garden and it was so gorgeously quiet we all enjoyed sitting out there with her with a glass of wine in the evening. Perfect location for exploring the broads, beaches and nearby Great Yarnmouth. Everything we could have possibly needed was provided. Can’t say enough good things about our stay, would recommend to all.

Lovely, well situated cottage for exploring Norfolk

First time visiting Norfolk with the family and we were not disappointed. Jo was friendly & helpful and the cottage is wonderful. It had everything we needed to feel at home, as well as being very clean. It's well situated to explore the Broads as well as some amazing sandy beaches.

Perfect weekend getaway

Lovely cottage for use as a base to explore Norfolk and the Broads. Jo's communication was first class throughout and we had no issues at all during our stay. I can see the benefits of the cottage for dog owners as it has an enclosed garden and is close to the beaches. Overall, a very relaxing weekend.

Perfect getaway

Thank you Jo! Easy from start to finish. Great cottage, really home from home. Well equipped cottage perfect for a break. Near to Winterton which has the most amazing dog friendly beach! Fantastic location for local ‘tourist attractions’. Horsey to see the seals is a must! We can’t wait to return and stay at the cottage again.

Amazing stay in this beautiful cottage

We had an amazing 7 days away in this fantastic cottage in August. The cottage itself was a dream, the kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The living room is so cozy with very comfy sofas with plenty of seating. It has a large screen tv, DVD player And ps3 which my son loved! The en-suite bathrooms were a treat, no fighting over the bathroom in the mornings! The beds are so incredibly comfortable with very good quality bedding also, we all slept so well every night. And as for the garden....I don’t think the pictures do it justice, it was a lot bigger than I thought and perfect for kids and dogs. We spent many hours out in the enclosed garden. During the day it is an absolute sun trap and then you get some shade from early evening which was great for us as we were there during the heatwave. Jo and her husband are lovely and very accommodating and we were even treated to a welcome pack of fresh flowers, cookies, tea, coffee, sugar and milk! The small touches were really appreciated like the hand soap, washing and dishwasher liquid, salt and pepper as well as the homely decorations and art in every room. There is also everything you would need for a break ironing board and iron, hoover, pegs, hairdryer etc they have literally thought of everything! The area is perfect, very rural and quiet at night but everything you could want like supermarkets, beaches, places to eat and attractions just a short drive away. We visited local beaches, restaurants and attractions all a short distance away. We even visited the car boot sales in Rollesby and Arminghall which were great mornings out, played crazy golf as well as hired a boat on the Norfolk broads for the day (dogs allowed). We had a fun packed break and I can’t wait to return! Thank you so much Jo!!

Stunning cottage and beautiful location

We have just come back from a fantastic week at Porters Cottage! It was immaculately clean throughout and you would never know that dogs had been in the property. The cottage is cosy but big and airy and the garden is 3 times the size of the photos. Its an idylic setting in the countryside and so peaceful but a perfect base for the beach and broads. Jo was a brilliant host - made sure we had everything we needed and gave us her contact details if we needed them but then left us to it. We booked this as a last minute holiday when our holiday was cancelled because of covid and we didnt know what to expect but it exceed all our expectations - I would recommend the cottage to my family and friends without hestitation. Its a little gem - we absolutely loved it and cant wait to come back!

Lovely place

It was great staying in this lovely cottage. It has an amazing location - close to all sorts of amenities whilst being remote enough for us to enjoy peace and quiet when we wanted them.

Fantastic stay!

We had such a wonderful stay at Porters Cottage! The Cottage itself is very spacious and comfortable, has all the amenities that you need and very clean. On arrival we were welcomed with Xmas goodies and a beautiful Xmas tree, and Jo was very helpful whenever we needed advice/information about the cottage or local area. We are looking forward to going back soon!

Cosy, comfortable and pet friendly

A great experience from start to finish. Booking was so easy and our host Jo was super attentive and helpful. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants and places to visit and even popped in on our first night to check everything was ok. She was very relaxed about us having a young puppy with us, and generally made us all feel very welcome. The Cottage was located in a quiet, pretty village with lots of great walks all around and great beaches just a short drive away. We would definitely return to Porters Cottage in the future.

Porters Cottage is an established holiday cottage welcoming returning guests year after year. As a family business our priority is to ensure your holiday starts as soon as you arrive and we aim to offer excellent customer service to ensure your holiday is stress free. Having lived in Norfolk for many years we can help with any questions you may have and offer suggestions for great days out, places to eat and drink and being dog lovers the best dog friendly establishments which are also human friendly. We understand the importance of customer expectations and aim to exceed them.

Our repeat bookings are very high which we believe speaks for our commitment to offering you a holiday to remember. Our changeover day is usually a Friday with weekly bookings taken during peak seasons. However l aim to be as flexible as possible so please don't hesitate to contact me should you require an alternative arrival day or duration. I own and manage the property myself ensuring all messages are dealt with in a timely manner. Guests who stay here always remark on the fact that the cottage is in a very quiet and tranquil setting whilst only being a short drive away from stunning sandy beaches at Winterton-on-sea, river access to The Broads at Potter Heigham and a 30 minute drive from Norwich and many family attractions. Great Yarmouth itself offers the normal seaside fun which many families enjoy for a day out.

Furthermore, l pride myself on offering quality fixtures and fittings, linen, bedding etc. I aim to create a relaxing, cosy environment within the property paying attention to those added extras allowing my guests to feel at home and comfortable as soon as they walk through the door.

Throughout the year there are many different things to do and see. The Seal colony at Horsey is a 20 minute drive from the cottages and provides wonderful viewing when the pups are born during December and January - fantastic beach walks during Xmas and the New Year - and seals are usually evident along the coast either swimming or sunbathing at other times of the year.

Originally a hay barn Porters Cottage dates back to the 17th century formerly within the grounds of The Old Court House. Full of character and historical interest Porters Cottage now offers very comfortable accommodation whilst maintaining its charm. Both bedrooms offer full ensuite bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower, a fully enclosed garden is perfect for those wishing to bring dogs and also those with young families. Porters Cottage offers peace and tranquility a real chance to relax and unwind in the beautiful Norfolk countryside.
