A quiet comfortable retreat in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside

A charming cottage in the centre of a quiet village. Nearest stores 10 minute drive away. 3 good sized bedrooms. Furnishings a bit tired but very comfortable. Surrounded by beautiful single track roads. Good base for visiting Cirencester, Cheltenham, Stroud and Highgrove Gardens. Lots of space for 5 adults. Seating area in the garden.

A lovely traditional cottage, within easy reasy of some of the Cotswolds' lovely sights. Well-resourced, modern kitchen and dining room, which made a lovely hub for family meals. The provision of basics like salt and pepper, tea and coffee, made things easier too. The living room was traditional and cosy and the wood-fired stove, which lit like a dream, added that extra homely touch. The beds, with crisp linen and pillows to die for, gave us the best nights' sleep that we have had in a long time. Even on a cold morning, the garden was a quiet place to sit and had something iconically English for every season: lavender, roses, rosemary, camellia, wysteria, complete with dining furniture. Though we stayed in early October, just as temperatures had fallen, the cottage was perfectly warm, day and night. It was only on departure that we realised the hosts lived next door, so perfectly did they cater for our arrival but leave us so beautifully to feel like we were in our own home.

A lovely stay!

Woodmancote cottage is a very cosy house, full of character. It is in a very quiet setting, yet close to amenities. The accommodation was perfect for our group of two couples. The only things that could have improved our stay were larger beds, and one of the radiators was not working in one bedroom.

The most amazing cottage we ever stayed

Everything was perfect! We don't have any requests. The beds were so comfortable, the garden is beatiful, the living room with fireplace was the cozyness, the kitchen was so big, well...everything was so big and comfortable! Also, the items for the baby were so good and he enjoyed the stay as well. Thank you so much!

Amazing

Woodmancote Manor Cottage was just great. Bery authentic, all amenities available, two bathrooms, dully equipped kitchen, nice garden. And the host Alex was very nice and he provided us with some great rips for restaurants in the neighborhood. We definitely recommend this large and spacious house !!

A relaxed comfortable property in a Cotswold village.

This is a lovely historic spacious property with its own private garden in a quiet rural village well away from the main roads yet within easy reach of Cirencester and Cheltenham. There was a plentiful supply of hot water for the excellent walk-in shower and separate bathroom.

Delightful cottage in a lovely peaceful village

We were delighted with our short stay in Woodmancote Manor Cottage. Very spacious, everything we needed for our short weekend to visit gorgeous local gardens. We were very impressed by the decor, comfort and cleanliness and ease of access. Our host, Alex, could not have been more helpful and kind. We, all four of us, would thoroughly recommend this charming peaceful retreat.

Really great stay!

We all were in agreement that the cottage was just delightful! Absolutely spotless (not even a glimmer of a cobweb in sight which is a real bonus in such an old building!), huge bedrooms, gorgeous bathrooms, communal areas were great. Kitchen in particular had such great amenities. Beautiful garden, quiet area. I could go on. We loved our stay and will 100% be back!

A great Cotswold cottage

A comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting and well equipped. It was in a perfect location for us but a car would be a necessity. Helpful, proactive owners next door. A great pity not to have a door (just a curtain) on one of the upstairs bathrooms.

So rural, so lovely. Just perfect!

The owner (who lives next door in the Manor House) welcomed us when we got there and made sure we got into the property, then left us to it to explore this large property. It's like having an east wing and a west wing! The bedrooms are very large, along with the bathrooms. The kitchen had everything you needed with a breakfast bar and dining table looking over the garden. The village of Woodmancote is very centrally located - only 10 mins to Cirencester. We really enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful old world quaint cottage

Have just spent the last 3 days at this beautiful manor cottage in the Cotswolds with family. A much needed break and getaway; some downtime, plenty of relaxation and a chance to catch up. Highly recommend the Woodmancote Manor Cottage in the delightful villa of Woodmancote, 15 minutes from the heart of Cirencester, via Bolthole Retreats. It’s a charming cottage, with original wooden beams and structures, spacious and quaintfully decorated. 2 large double bedrooms and a smaller twin room, it was perfect for our getaway. Everything was super clean and we loved the old world feel of the cottage. Highly impressed that the kitchen was fully equipped with everything, plus small thoughtful touches such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. The only slight niggle would be that the bathroom that has the bath tub needs a shower curtain around it. Just be aware that the “door” to this bathroom is a heavy curtain but that didn’t bother us. The owner, Alex, who lives next door was extremely helpful with our queries and guided us to a wonderful small playground a few hundred yards from the cottage, where we all lived out our inner child dreams of playing on swings and doing obstacle courses!

Spacious & comfortable country house

Woodmancote Cottage is a spacious, comfortable and lovely cottage that was perfect for our party of 5 adults. The bedrooms were large, excellent quality bedding and lots of storage space. Two large bathrooms and a cloakroom downstairs - perfect. We spent most of out time in the well-equipped and spacious kitchen/dining room with huge window seats, or outside in the garden, table & chairs provided. Original art works, antique furniture and fresh flowers - this was an exceptional house. The grounds were quiet and private, we did good walks from the house, walked to the local pub Bathurst Inn for great food, and easy to explore the area. Have to remember this is a countryside house - we had spiders, woodlouses and a shrew visit but all part of the fun.

A pleasant stay.

An ideal location for friends meeting together. However, I was in one of the single beds and it was far too soft for me - I think a new mattress is called for. The cottage was quaint with good facilities and it was nice to be able to light a fire in the lounge. The owner (who lives next door) was very accommodating with a 'socket' EV charger. Parking was good for 3 cars and it felt safe in the village. Weird that one of the bedrooms has a bathroom where there is no door. Furniture was very 'hodge podge' but that wasn't really a problem - in fact our friends liked it. The oven was dreadful - very slow and difficult to work out how to use it. All in all, a good stay.

Spacious period cottage in beautiful peaceful location

The cottage is really spacious and in a beautiful location in a quiet little village. The peace and tranquility was wonderful to wake up to and come back to after a day’s exploring. Cirencester is only a ten minute drive with its wonderful independent shops and restaurants. We spent one day just walking from the cottage in the stunning countryside which surrounds it. The property itself however, needs some updating. Some of the furniture was broken and some unusable (the kitchen stools) and there were stains on the kitchen floor and on some bed linen, which definitely marred our first impressions. I understand that antique furniture suits the age of the cottage but there’s a difference between antique and tatty! The beds however were very comfortable, the towels lovely and we loved the large shower room. We were initially disappointed as we expected a slightly higher standard from the photos, but quickly grew to love it there. I think with a few tweaks the property could definitely have the wow factor!

A beautiful and peaceful cottage, thoughtfully furnished, and with a kind, thoughtful owner.

The place really is as good as it looks but the photo cannot convey the tasteful period and modern decor and furnishings, the spacious layout and the relaxed feel of the place. The owner greeted us, shortly after we arrived and has two small charming and well behaved dogs. Some very helpful starter packs are provided of all the essentials, such as washing up tools and soap, dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, tea and coffee, etc. The kitchen oven takes a bit of getting used to but works well. It was short of a shelf but the owner sorted this out for us, when this was queried. The kitchen layout worked was well, with the large work surface/bar and separate dining table and there was plenty of storage space. The bedrooms were superb, especially the ensuite one, and they are very well spaced out with landing areas in between. The well looked after garden, with shrubs and climbing Wisteria, has plenty of seating and gets the sun, both in the morning and in the afternoon/early evening (April) and is flanked by a dry stone wall. The hamlet was very well placed for visiting areas of the Cotswolds and the local pub, Bathurst Arms, was right by the river and served very tasty food. The owner also came to say goodbye shortly before we left, which was appreciated. All six of us, would strongly recommend this place.

Three thumbs up!

I recently needed to book a stay for myself and my children and in my haste failed to recognise that there are two different Woodmancote villages, not all that far apart. Where I thought I was selecting a property nearer to Tewkesbury, I accidentally booked Woodmancote Manor Cottage near to Cirenceter. What an absolutely brilliant mistake! The whole experience was wonderful from start to finish. The owner of the cottage conveniently lives next door and was very gracious and attentive with welcoming messages and information prior to arrival, and then during the stay they were quietly there to attend any needs or concerns, as well as provide local knowledge and advice. A true gentleman and very, very kind. The cottage was actually quite large and fixed up to a lovely state with everything clean, neat, tasteful, and comfortable. Given that the cottage sits within the middle of an historic village, it was quiet, easy to find, and incredibly peaceful. As with any rural village, it does take some planning to come supplied with any food, beverages and personal needs you may want as there isn't a village shop of pub within walking distance. But, Cirenceter isn't terribly difficult to get to and has plenty of shops, grocery stores and restaurants. Overall, a highly recommended cottage to make a home away from home!
