Excellent accommodation

Forge Cottage is one of the best we have ever stayed in. A lovely welcome pack and warm and comfortable accommodation. Shirley was most helpful regarding a query before we arrived and we really enjoyed our stay. Could not fault anything.

September Break

Our fourth stay at Forge Cottage. A spacious, well equipped cottage for two, located a couple of minutes away from the market place and shops. Hosts Shirley and David are very welcoming and helpful. I can highly recommend a visit to Masham!

A very comfortable cottage in a lovely village.

We found Forge cottage very comfortable and well equipped. Parking nearby was no problem at all. The cottage is a lot more spacious than we had expected and it was a nice bonus to have two bathrooms! The only downside was the lack of any views but we were out all the time so this didn’t really matter. Both the bed and furniture were extremely comfortable.

A gorgeous stay at Forge Cottage

We were so pleased with this lovely cottage, so much bigger than we thought it would be. The bedroom was so cosy with an extremely comfortable bed. An abundance of hot water and the large bath was so welcome after a long day of hiking in all sorts of weather. A choice of 3 pubs in Masham all with a cosy atmosphere. Can recommend Harry’s Fish Bar, the best fish supper we’ve had for a while. Great communication from the owner, Shirley, thank you.

Great Cottage in Fantastic Location

We had a wonderful stay in Forge Cottage. Our first visit to Masham, and it was a delight. Great location for walks - either from the town or a short drive to more beautiful countryside. Also for visiting the many historic sites nearby. The cottage was clean, comfortable, well equipped, and spacious for two people. Parking close by in the big market square area was very convenient.

Ford Cottage-Good central location

We enjoyed our stay in Forge Cottage. A clean and comfortable place, in an excellent central location. Only a short walk to the market place, and both Theakston's and Black Sheep breweries. Shirley was a very helpful host, providing extra lighting during an electrical outage affecting most of Masham for a short time.

A week at Forge Cottage

We had an enjoyable stay at Forge Cottage. Everything was provided for a comfortable week’s stay in this spacious cottage. The cottage was cosy to return to after a day out. The location is perfect - just off the square in Masham. Would highly recommended & we will return as we adore Masham.

Great cottage.

Really loved our week in this beautifully restored cottage with quality fixtures and fittings, furnishings and household items. Lots of walks in every direction from the cottage and well positioned for visiting Ripon, Fountains Abbey and Studley Water Gardens, Leyburn, Middleham Castle and pottering around Nidderdale and. Wensleydale. Being used to small town markets in France, the Masham Market was slightly disappointing but that in no way detracted from our enjoyment overall. Good food at The White Bear. No 12 a super local shop.

Long relaxing weekend in Masham

March 2026 - Long relaxing weekend in Masham, (4 nights) parked up and never moved the car until we left, perfectly situated to access Masham Market Square with Pubs, Shops Cafe's and a market, we bought some produce from the Bedale Community Bakery stall which were excellent, (It's the one with the long queue!!). Cottage is very comfortable and perfectly accommodating for two people, we took our own wood from home for the log burner, however you can buy this in Masham. Planning a return visit towards the end of the year.
