Lefkimmi is one of the most genuine places in Corfu island, and even Greece. The traditional architecture and every day life stays untouched by modern times, even though years go by. Here, you will see the little alleys, and the locals sitting outside of their houses to get some fresh air in the hot summer days.Here, you will see the little fishing boats sailing off in the river of Lefkimmi to go fishing in the early morning hours or in the late evening.Here, you will see the historic orthodox churches, and, if you are lucky, you might also see a Greek wedding or christening! You will also see the evergreen olive groves planted in the 15th century during the Venetian occupancy. Here, you will see the traditional little taverns where the local sit for hours after hours enjoying the tasteful local wine, their ''meze'', or even the fresh fish, making you feel as if time never goes by. Lefkimmi is also home to some of the best beaches of Corfu island, long, sandy, with shallow and warm water. Lastly, at a short distance of a few kilometers you will be able to enjoy nature at its best, as you will find Alykes Natura protected park, as well as Arkoudilas virgin forest and dramatic beach.
