Also knows as "Joyce Country", this is a very popular area for lake fishing and hill walking. The area boasts wonderful ancient woodlands, rivers, lakes and countryside, overshadowed by the Maamturk Mountains, and all waiting to be explored. This is an ideal location for families and groups seeking a getaway in an idyllic and peaceful location, while still being close to the nearby villages of Maam, Cornamona and Clonbur. The cottage promises a tranquil and peaceful stay while still allowing guests to easily explore the region. The Western Way, a long-distance walking trail, can be joined at Maam and will take you to the ancient site of Mámean. Local fishing lakes include Lough Corrib, Lough Mask and Lough Nafooey. Cong village and Ashford Castle are a 15-minute drive away. Leenane and the coastline at Killary Harbour can also be reached within a 15-minute drive. A little further afield are the larger towns of Ballinrobe, Westport, Oughterard and Clifden. These bigger towns can all be reached within a 30-40 minutes' drive.
All of the nearby towns and villages are host to a variety of restaurants, bars and cafés, offering something for all tastes. Other activities and attractions in the region include golf, boat trips, pony trekking and much more.

The accommodation is all on ground floor level. It consists of a sitting room, spacious combined kitchen and dining room, utility room, guest WC, four bedrooms and a bathroom.
The living room offers comfortable furniture, TV and open fire. The large window offers views of Lough Corrib, Castlekirk, and surrounding mountains. The large kitchen and dining area is very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including dishwasher, oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. The dining table offers ample seating and space for enjoyable family and friends' meals with views onto the gardens, the lake and islands. The adjoining utility room houses a washing machine, heating controls and a separate sink. A guest WC is located off the utility room. There are four bedrooms in the property. Two bedrooms have double beds, and two bedrooms have twin beds, sleeping 8 persons in total. The bedrooms offer wonderful countryside, mountain and lake views, or hill and woodland views. All bedrooms provide ample storage drawers and wardrobes. A hairdryer is available. The family bathroom completes the accommodation. It has a bath, separate shower cubicle with electric shower, WC and sink. Outdoor seating is available to the front of the property, perfect for those relaxing evenings after a day out exploring the region, or to enjoy some daily outdoor dining.
