Upon arrival, we were met with musty sheets on the beds, which I had to clean myself, and lake amenities that were unusable. The paddleboard was broken and infested with carpenter ants, the kayak hadn't been used in ages, and the pedal boat was nonfunctional, a fact we only learn en route to the property. The first hour and a half of our vacation was spent stripping/cleaning beds, while my husband and daughters attempted to clean out the infested and broken lake gear. We contacted Vrbo when the owner failed to respond to the message through Vrbo, and the representative made us wait over an hour on the phone for the owner. She repeated the claim that they had no way of knowing items were broken unless previous guests reported them, and said that the guests that left at 11am that day told them when they left that the pedal boat was not working, and promised to bring clean sheets and a paddleboard "right away." 45 minutes LATER, they arrived with an inflatable paddle board and sheets, promising to get new equipment for the lake the next morning-a promise they failed to keep. The lakefront listing highlighted water equipment that was clearly not maintained or functional-which amounts to false advertising. The owners insisting that they aren't aware of broken amenities unless someone informs is unacceptable for a property that is actively marketed and rented. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, with Vrbo and the property owners.
