The Gypsy Knot is a beautifully quirky gypsy wagon hidden in the walled garden of an historic house, in the centre of the popular seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk. A truly special hideaway find, you'll just love the hospitality and location.
Set in its own private walled garden, this magical gypsy wagon is filled with everything you need for a relaxing stay. It is full of quirks and wonderful features with its sliding double bed, fold-down kitchen area and pretty stove to keep you cosy on chillier evenings. There will be a welcome hamper with basics and some treats (of course!) on arrival. This should keep you going, but if you do want to cook, there is a lovely old fireplace which acts as a firepit/stove and barbecue, or there is a microwave inside the hut. If you would rather head out and try some of the local gastro pubs, you are certainly not short of choice! There are three pubs all within two minutes' walk around the beautiful Georgian village green 'The Buttlands'.
The wagon is in the grounds of Ware Hall, and the amazing history behind the house itself is almost as quirky as the wagon! The story of May Savidge is known by many, after being forced to demolish her much loved family home in Hertfordshire, she took it down, timber by timber, and brought the whole house to Wells-next-the-Sea where she single-handedly rebuilt the medieval Hall.
