We are in the exact center of the old medieval city. Between the main square, Piazza Maggiore, and the symbolic two towers, Garisenda and Asinelli. Piazza Maggiore is the main square of Bologna and it is surrounded by the most important buildings: Palazzo Podesta, which dates back to 1200, Palazzo Re Enzo, Palazzo d'Accursio, a monumental architectural complex of the fourteenth century, now the seat of the Municipality of Bologna. The last side of the square is enhanced by the Basilica of San Petronio, an example of Italian Gothic, which began on the end of the 14th century and never completed. Palazzo Banchi marks the beginning of the most famous porch of the city, the Pavaglione, connecting Piazza Maggiore at the Archiginnasio, the first seat of the University of Bologna, the oldest in the world. Today the seat of the University is located less than 5 minutes walk from the apartment, in Via Zamboni, half of which there is the Teatro Comunale.
