Poorly maintained

The air conditioner stopped working for the last three days of our trip. My husband and I both called the owner twice on Monday when I noticed the problem, with no return calls, Tuesday I sent an email, to which the reply was turn off the air conditioner for a few hours. A few hours with the air conditioning off when it's hot and humid makes for an even hotter house. The owner showed up as we were leaving to return home with a "sorry about the air conditioning". When we left the temperature in the house was 80. The house needs to have more furniture, there are no dressers to put clothing/ personal items. The rooms just have beds and a night stand with a lamp. I wish the house had been a cleaner too.

Spacious home - never wanted to leave

The house was so pleasant and beautifully decorated. There was room for plenty of people to sleep. We entertained using the BBQ and the kitchen. There is seating at the bar area and kitchen table. It was perfect. There were so many ways to hang outside.. back and front balconies, the dock… I would love to go back for a longer stay

Pictures looked great, but they must have been taken ages ago. the property was worn and in great need of an update. There were no garbage bags and it took 6 hrs for the owner to leave me a message. There was dirty bedding laundry in two of the the closets.

Perfect quiet location

This was a perfect location to celebrate a birthday. Right on the lagoon, and close to beach. The neighborhood was extremely quiet so we were able to enjoy family time on one of the many porches. Host were very easy to get ahold of if needed. The house was clean and very open.

Not bad

Property Manager: Ken was excellent with communication from beginning to end. He even let us in the house earlier than the expected check in time because the people who previously stayed there checked out early. We really did appreciate that. The Home: Pros: The Space was enough. The views were nice to have! Closets are large. Keyless Pad Entry was perfect. Cons: When we walked in there was a pretty musty smell. On the kitchen counter there were two areas of sticky marks from the bottom of cups that I guess spilled and never was cleaned. Furniture was minimal and very old. The one dresser in the King Bedroom was difficult to open and close because it is very old. The shower doors in the upstairs bathroom seem as though they are about to fall off. Kitchen is not very well equipped. The downstairs closet where the cushions for the outdoor furniture are smells really bad. The downstairs bedrooms have no dressers. There are just two or three night stands. Area: The neighborhood is really nice and quiet. Although being on the lagoon was nice, whenever there was low tide, it gave off a pretty unpleasant smell that lingered into the home.

POOR MANAGEMENT OF PROPERTY

The house was disgustingly dirty - Kitchen fridge had to be wipped down completely, ice cube disp. did not produce ice so we were constantly buying ice. / Bathrooms rust / mold & mildew; toliet brushed full of dirt and poop/ Bedroom; Mstbd doors would not close bedding was stained, bedroom closets completely disheveled; / Bedroom #2 Door wood not stay closed, closet completely disheveled; extra bedding thrown in hamper not sure if dirty or clean, prev. renters close left behind thrown on floor & shelves, garbage on floor / Bedroom #3 closets completely disheveled / Curtains through out stained / Ceiling fans covered in dirt / Practically no indoor lighting in bedrooms / BBQ Grill filthy dirty - had only 2 settings; off or high / Exterior; overgrown weeds ; because we were at end of cul de sac pretty much alot of debri ended up by us. If I could post pictures I would - I have tons. Its a shame people defination of Standard of cleaning is so disconnected. We made thee best of it - but would not rent here again. This has needs alot if TLC - its got potentially. When I vomplained to owner he responded with " I am sorry it doesnt meet your Standards" --

We enjoyed our stay and everything was as stated in the description. Only change was a Keurig Machine for coffee rather than a coffee pot but we are a fan of Keurig. What a great location - with decks all over - you can enjoy the view from every one. Easy access to the bay with dock in back, SUP board, kayak and great family-sized float. Then hop in the car for a 10-minute drive over to the island.

Summer rental in Manahawkin

Overall had a great week down in Manahawkin at this rental home. There were 6 of us who stayed at the house. Bedrooms are big with a lot of closet space but no dressers. We would have preferred there to be more couch seating in the living area and also more kitchen supplies. We enjoyed using the water sports equipment on the lagoon including paddle board, kayak and tubes. We brought bikes and enjoyed riding around and exploring the neighborhood. Drive to the beach is about 10 mins, pretty easy to find parking each time we went. Recommend a trip to the Boatyard for drinks!
