Wavesong is a beautifully finished, self-contained one-bedroom unit set to the side of a larger property above Onetangi Beach. Fully screened and completely private, it enjoys wide ocean views, a private spa pool, and a calm, contained setting. It suits couples wanting something genuinely special, with comfort, privacy, and easy access to the beach and nearby wineries.
The Space:
Wavesong is compact, light-filled, and carefully designed, with a sense of quality that’s felt as soon as you arrive. Although it sits on the same block as the main house, the unit is positioned separately and screened by planting and fencing, with its own clearly defined outdoor areas. Guests do not share any spaces and will not see or interact with the owners during their stay other than at check-in.
Inside, the living space is simple and well balanced, bringing together a comfortable lounge, a small dining area for two, and a kitchenette suited to easy meals. Large windows frame the ocean outlook across Onetangi, drawing in light and giving the apartment its open, airy feel throughout the day.
The bedroom sits quietly to one side of the living space and features a queen bed and the same expansive sea view. It’s a peaceful room to wake up in, with the water visible from bed and the space remaining calm and uncluttered.
To the rear of the unit, a sheltered outdoor area holds the private spa pool. This space is fully screened and enclosed, creating a secluded retreat that feels removed from the rest of the property and works beautifully for evening soaks after time at the beach.
The bathroom is newly built and well finished, with underfloor heating, a heated towel rail, and good storage, keeping the space practical while still feeling considered and comfortable year-round.

Check-in is from 2:00 pm and check-out is by 10:30 am. Early or late check-in may be available for a fee, depending on bookings either side

Wavesong sits just above Onetangi Beach, a long white-sand bay known for safe swimming, relaxed walks, and some of the island’s best beachfront dining.
Nearby are Three Seven Two for seasonal coastal dining, Ki Māha for refined beachfront meals, and Charlie Farley’s for casual food and drinks. For wine tastings, Obsidian Vineyard, Tantalus Estate, and Stonyridge Vineyard are all close by, along with The Heke for relaxed food and drinks.
Getting Around:
Wavesong is close to Onetangi Beach and nearby bus stops. Buses run from Onetangi, stopping near all major wineries including The Heke, then continuing through Oneroa and on to the passenger ferry at Matiatia. Taxis operate on the island but can be limited and costly, particularly at peak times. On-site parking is available if you’re bringing a car.
