Ciel et Bois is on 6 acres of wooded land. It's just 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa.
You'll find the cottage to be spacious and clean. It's well-stocked with everything you might need for your group.
Take to the trails of neighbouring Nakkertok nordic ski club and Kanawe mountain bike centre. Bond around the flickering fire. Lose yourself (or connect with your inner self) in a quiet nook or in a hammock.

The space
The space was created by local upcycler and designer Karen Charron of @brokanta. Thoughtfully designed for group gatherings, it's got the perfect mix of modern amenities and country charm.
A common reaction as people roll up the driveway is: "what a beautiful property". You'll be surrounded by nature. It's a peaceful place to stay.
Inside, dine at the oversized farmhouse table. Watch the winter from the solarium. Play games or relax in the comfortable walk-out basement.
Ciel et Bois means ‘sky and woods’ and you’ll see why. Your group can enjoy time together on the sprawling lawn, surrounded by mature trees.
Escape onto the trails for a tranquil walk—or go for an exhilarating ski, run, or bike.

There are 4 bedrooms, so the accommodations can work for everything from 4 individuals wanting a private room each, to 18 people who want to share bedrooms.
The 16 bed breakdown is as follows:
★ Cedar Room (main floor) - 1 queen bed
★ Red Oak Room (main floor) - 1 queen bed
★ Maple Room (basement) - Three bunk beds (making 6 single beds)
★ Birch Room (basement) - 4 single beds
★ Basement lounge area - 4 couches that transform into single beds
For all 16 beds, we provide:

The bathrooms are all newly renovated and beautifully designed — they'll have you feeling pampered.

The main floor is mostly 'open concept' with the kitchen, dining room, and solarium / living room all flowing into each other. In addition, two of the bedrooms and bathrooms are on this floor.
The walk-out basement has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, the laundry room, and a large lounging area with comfy seating where people can gather, connect, relax, and play games.

Outside the front door, you'll find a BBQ and a large table.
A big highlight year-round is always the fire pit, with surrounding seating on Muskoka / Adirondack chairs.
There's a large lawn which is great for an assortment of lounging and games including, during the spring summer and fall, badminton and volley ball.
You can explore the woods on a 300m path (10 minute stroll) that meanders through the maples, oaks, and white pines.
We've scattered so many hammocks and Muskoka chairs at idyllic spots that you'll need a map to navigate your way back to reality.

Ciel et Bois backs onto hundreds of acres of backcountry, made up of two recreational areas, Nakkertok Nordic Ski Club and Domaine Kanawe (mountain biking).
The kilometres of trails weave through the forest and around little lakes that make up the home of many animals. You might see deer, rabbits, and turtles that inhabit Ciel et Bois and the surrounding woods.

Ciel et Bois is in an amazing location: so close to Ottawa, yet surrounded by gorgeous nature!
You can conveniently access groceries and supplies in Cantley within 10 minutes.
The village of Chelsea, QC, known for the Nordik Spa, Gatineau Park, dining, cafes, and pubs is 18 minutes away.
Downtown Ottawa (the Byward Market) and Gatineau are a 20 minute drive and most of the museums and urban attractions (Rideau Canal, Parliament of Canada Pretty) are within a 25 minute drive.
Ottawa International Airport (YUL) is 35 minutes away.

We open bookings for the individual Ciel et Bois cottage and cabins (off-grid cabins coming in 2024) seasonally. We announce the opening of a new calendar first to our email list (you can find the link to sign up for that over an IG), then on IG. Follow us over there to be the first to know about openings and last minute cancellations.

Guest access
As guests you'll have full access to the cottage and property. There are two sheds which are kept locked where we store our supplies and equipment (lawn mower, etc.).

WEATHER/CANCELLATIONS
We have a clear cancellation policy and we stick to it. We don't make exceptions due to weather.
As soon as you book, we start preparing for your visit, including turning away other groups.
We're dedicated to providing you with an incredible stay on the dates you've reserved (Ciel et Bois opened in October 2023, but check out all of the online 5-star reviews of our sister company, Boreal River Rescue, to see our commitment to providing consistently great experiences).
Please keep the cancellation policy in mind when booking, and if you're concerned about it, we recommend purchasing travel insurance through AirBnB or other insurance providers.
