You only have to walk downstairs to get to the best bars and restaurants that Wellington has to offer. Cinemas are nearby, the St James Theatre is just across the street, and the Opera House not far away. You're very close walking distance from the Waterfront, Te Papa Museum, Cuba Street and Oriental Bay.
There are three grocery stores within a five minute walk.
Let me know if you want some advice about what to see, eat and drink in this fabulous little city.
Public Transit stops right out front of the building and takes you anywhere- including the airport. A taxi from the airport is generally $50. Uber is usually $20-40. The Airport Flyer bus picks up just out front of the airport doors and takes you to the St James Theatre, just across the street from the apartment, for about $10 per person.
There are several paid parking garages within a few minutes walk, and I've got some tips and tricks about parking for free & cheap.
My best advice is to park on or near Marjoribanks Street in the "Coupon Parking" zone. It's free on weekends, overnight, and for 2hrs on weekdays. If parking >2hrs on weekdays, it's $18/day. You can buy a "coupon" from the PayMyPark App or from most any dairy (aka convenience store) nearby. You'll need a coupon if you park for more than 2hrs between 8am and 6pm on weekdays.
The garage at 70 Tory Street is one block away and costs about $38/day on weekdays and $8/day on weekends.
Metered parking right out front is $5/hr on weekdays, 2hr max; and free overnight (no max time overnight). Be sure to check the signs to be sure the rules haven't changed.

Mevo is a great car-share app that lets you rent Teslas, Polstars, BYDs, etc (electric cars) by the hour or by the day. Collecting a car through the Mevo app is super convenient, and you can drop it off in most any public parking spot in town. You don't have to pay for metered parking - so parking is free on Tory Street right out front of the apartment. After booking, ask me for a link to get a $50 Mevo credit.
