Retro Lakeside Retreat

Warm, sunny and cosy 2 Bedroom retro Bach with 1 bathroom and a washing machine. Retro Retreat is on a large back section with plenty of off street/on site parking and room for tents and lots of room to play. The Bach has an external power source (caravan/motor home plug) that can be used by guests and their friends.

Bach is well appointed with a well equipped kitchen. The kitchen, living and dining areas are open-plan and inc a dining table with chairs. Lovely views of Lake Taupo can be seen from the kitchen, dining area, lounge and deck. Tea, coffee and sugar is provided plus a small milk to start you off. Some pantry items are provided free for your convenience as are some cleaning products, toilet paper, handy towels, glad wrap etc.

A portacot and high chair may be available for your use, please let me know if you need them so I can reserve them for you. Bedrooms include 2 queen beds and a single bunk above one of them. The beds have mattress protectors and a fitted sheet on them. Pillows all have pillow protectors. You’ll need to bring your own pillowcases, sheets, duvet/sleeping bags and towels. Bath mats, hand towels, tea towels and dish clothes are provided. There are some sheets and towels on site for emergencies and to help you make the most of your time at the lake.

The lounge area has 2 3-seater sofas and 2 chairs. As it is open plan onto the deck the 6 dining area/outdoor chairs can be used both indoors and out. There are designated outdoor tables, chairs and a lounger.

There is an electric heater for cooler nights.

A 4 burner gas BBQ and outdoor furniture is provided on the deck.

A Smart TV with Freeview is provided.

Children are very welcome.

Pets can be included in your stay by negotiation. No additional fee will be incurred, just contact me to discuss details. Please note: this property is not fenced.

Whareroa is a beautiful little village on the south west edge of lake Taupo in the central plateau region. The area is very central to many areas of interest. Amenities at Whareroa include a boat ramp, ski lane, designated swimming area, children’s play area, tennis court and a free waste transfer station. The streets are all linked by walkways which allow for quick and easy access to the lake.

Fishing is good and you can fly-fish at the mouth of the Whareroa Stream. Fishing licences and ramp permits are available for purchase online.

Apart from fishing the lake provides an excellent venue for kayaks, paddle boards, water sport and swimming.

Whareroa is within 30 minutes of some excellent restaurants thus allowing for various budgets, tastes and celebrations. The closest general store is at Aomori. There is no store at Whareroa. Whakapapa is under an hour away as is Taupo. Turangi and Taumarunui are approx 25 and 45 minutes respectively.

Apart from lake actitities Whareroa is close to many walking and cycling tracks of interest and cater for all abilities. The area is well-known for its bush walks. Whareroa boasts spectacular cliffs. The Tokaanu Thermal Pools are nearby and the Tongariro Crossing is 40 minutes away.

Minimum stay is 2 nights. Discounts are available for stays of 7 nights or more, (5%); and a rate for rental of a month, (30 days or more) is negotiable.

Please note:
Bach is a non-smoking area and does not have wifi.
Cleaning fee is $60. In line with rental practices the property must be left tidy. This fee allows you to not have to spent your time cleaning prior to your departure to leave the Bach in pristine and sparking condition.
