Tolaga Bay/Uawa is a place of breathtaking natural beauty, with steep limestone cliffs plunging into the sea, a picturesque river running through the town, and beautiful safe swimming beaches at both ends of the town. There are lots of outdoor activities you can enjoy here, including beach and river swimming, fishing off the wharf, hiking over to Cook's Cove where the first ship moored, or up to the beacon for great views out over the bay. It's a safe town for bikeriding or horse riding, and there's even a skateboard park for the kids. There is a public golf course.
