Garratt Peninsula | Stay Waiheke
Summary:
Overlooking Onetangi Beach, this calm coastal home opens to uninterrupted sea views from the deck, spa pool, and living areas, made for long, easy island days.
The Space:
Set high above Onetangi Beach, Garratt Peninsula is an easy, light-filled home designed for sharing slow island days. From the moment you walk in, the view pulls you straight to the deck, an expansive outdoor space with dining, loungers, and a spa pool overlooking the full curve of the bay. Morning coffee here comes with the sound of the sea and joggers tracing the shoreline below.
Inside, the open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge area keeps everyone connected, with wide doors that blur the line between indoors and out. It’s the kind of space made for long breakfasts, afternoon swims, and sunset drinks that stretch into dinner.
Upstairs, three bright bedrooms and a family bathroom offer comfort and calm, each with soft light and sea air drifting through. Downstairs, a self-contained bedroom and bathroom provide privacy for friends, grandparents, or teens, a thoughtful setup for families and groups travelling together.
Please note, with steps throughout, the home isn’t suitable for toddlers or guests with limited mobility.

Guest Access:
You’ll have full, private use of the home, deck, and spa pool during your stay. The property is self-contained and set up for easy arrivals, everything you need is here.
Check-in is from 2:00 pm, and check-out is by 10:30 am. Early check-in or late check-out may be available for an additional fee; we’ll confirm closer to your booking. Please note that if there’s a same-day guest changeover, these can’t be offered.
There’s off-street parking available on the property, with easy access to the main entrance.
The Neighborhood:
Garratt Peninsula sits above Onetangi Beach, wide, golden, and one of Waiheke’s most beautiful stretches of sand. It’s an easy ten-minute walk down to the water for a morning swim or a slow stroll at sunset.
Along the beachfront, Charlie Farley’s is a long-standing locals’ favourite, relaxed, lively, and perfect for breakfast, coffee, or casual dinners with a view of the waves. Right next door, Ki Mīha brings a more refined edge to the beach scene, serving modern New Zealand cuisine and fine wines in an elegant oceanfront setting. Both are just steps from the sand, ideal for starting or ending the day.
A few minutes inland you’ll find The Heke Kitchen, Brewery & Distillery, a modern island hub known for wood-fired food, craft beer, and live DJ Fridays through summer. Drive a little further and you’re among Waiheke’s world-class vineyards, Tantalus Estate, Stonyridge, Casita Miro, and Wild on Waiheke — each offering long lunches, tastings, and a glimpse of the island’s relaxed rhythm.
If you venture into Oneroa Village, the main hub of cafés, boutiques, and galleries, you’ll find everything from beachwear and artisan goods to evening dining at The Oyster Inn or Fenice.
By evening, you’re back home on the deck, the beach quiet below, the sea soft with the last light of the day.
Getting Around:
You’ll have easy off-street parking right at the property, and from here the island unfolds in every direction. It’s around ten minutes by car to Oneroa Village, where you’ll find supermarkets, boutiques, and the main ferry connection to Auckland.
If you’d rather leave the car behind, Waiheke’s public buses run regularly between Onetangi, Oneroa, and the ferry terminal, with a stop close to the beach below the house. Taxis are available but can be expensive, especially in the evenings or during busy summer weekends, so it’s worth booking ahead if you plan to use them.
For a slower, more scenic way to explore, e-bikes and scooters can be hired in Oneroa, perfect for cruising the coastal roads or visiting vineyards without parking worries. Many guests also join wine tours or private drivers for a day of tastings around Onetangi and the surrounding valleys.
Wherever you’re heading, the island’s small scale means everything feels close, beaches, cafés, vineyards, and home again by sunset
Other Things to Note:
Like most Waiheke homes, Garratt Peninsula runs on rainwater, so we ask guests to use it thoughtfully during their stay. The spa pool is cleaned and ready for your arrival, and the home is equipped with everything you’ll need for a comfortable visit.
With steps connecting the different levels, the property isn’t suited to toddlers or guests with limited mobility.
Minimum stay requirements apply, seven nights from mid-December to mid-January, three nights on holiday weekends, and two nights at all other times.
Interaction with Guests:
Our Stay Waiheke team is available seven days a week from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with after-hours support for anything urgent. Once you’ve checked in, the home is yours to enjoy, private, calm, and fully set up for a relaxed stay.
