Delightful Rustic Retreat for Two with Dogs
While small and rustic, this home is packed full of amenities and gorgeous views. It was our first time bringing our dogs on vacation, and we all had a really relaxing time. Here are some of the highlights, along with some things to consider:OUTDOOR AREA: The fire pit area was great, with seating for four plus a picnic table. There was firewood readily available and several lighters in the kitchen. The hot tub was easy to use and hot, with really lovely views. There are plenty of motion lights if you’re trying to get around outside in the dark. Something to note - I don’t think the outdoor area is very conducive for anyone with mobility issues. Both the hot tub and fire pit were only accessible downhill via uneven terrain. Also, the neighbors are closer than the pictures would have you believe, with a bunch more vehicles traveling the nearby access road daily.DECK AREAS: One of the best selling points of this house. The open, covered deck along with the screened porch wrap around half the house. This is the only way to access the house through its “front door,” accessible via a gravel path and about four steps. There’s a gate across the deck’s opening, which is a great feature for those bringing their dogs - it provides a nicely contained additional area for pets to relax.KITCHEN: The kitchen is a tight, galley-style design. But it contains almost everything you need to enjoy home-cooked meals. Plenty of pots and pans, a variety of glassware - including rocks and wine glasses - a blender, Keurig machine, toaster, plates and silverware. There’s lots of seasonings available, along with k-cups and tea bags. We did bring our own slow cooker because there isn’t one.BEDROOMS: Small but functional. Bed linens, along with plenty of blankets and pillows, are provided.BATHROOMS: plenty of towels and washcloths provided, along with an assortment of toiletries. Several rolls of toilet paper are stocked, just note it is a septic system, so nothing but septic approved TP can be flushed.LIVING AREA: I was a little bummed that the fireplace was electric not wood burning, but it did provide a nice bit of warmth. There are lots of DVDs, books, and games available. The TV is a smart one, so all the streaming apps you normally use are readily available. The wireless internet was easy to connect to, with great range. The living area itself is small, and I’m not sure it would be comfortable for four adults, but it worked well for two adults and dogs.
