Black Bach by Stay Waiheke
Summary:
A relaxed, family-friendly bach with wide sea views, open-plan living, and an easy stroll to the quiet end of Onetangi Beach
The Space:
Black Bach is designed for simple, easy island living. Large bi-fold doors run the full width of the home, opening the living and dining areas to the deck and bringing in natural light, sea breeze, and views across the bay. Inside, the open-plan layout creates a central space for the whole group to gather, whether you’re cooking, reading, or preparing for another beach day.
The deck is the best spot for long lunches or slow evenings, with plenty of room to sit, eat, and take in the view. The seamless indoor–outdoor flow makes it easy to drift between the kitchen, living area, and outdoor spaces throughout the day.
The three-bedroom layout works well for extended families. Two double bedrooms sit off the main living area, and a separate bunk room with double bunk beds gives kids or teens their own space. The home is set up with everything needed for a comfortable stay, and the beach being so close makes it effortless to come and go.
Bed Configuration
Bedroom 1: Double bed
Bedroom 2: Double bed
Bedroom 3: Double bunk beds
Guest Access:
Check-in is from 2:00pm and check-out is 10:30am. Early check-in or late check-out may be available for an additional fee depending on same-day bookings. Guests have full use of the home, deck, outdoor areas, and on-site parking.
The Neighborhood:
Black Bach is in a prime Onetangi location, just a short walk to the quiet end of the beach and close to the area’s best cafés, restaurants, and wineries.
For breakfast or coffee, Charlie Farley’s and Beach Store Waiheke are both nearby on the waterfront. For lunch, Three Seven Two and Casita Miro offer relaxed meals with seasonal, local flavours. Dinner options include the refined Ki Māha or a more casual evening at Three Seven Two.
Award-winning wineries a few minutes’ drive away include Tantalus Estate, Stonyridge, and Te Motu. For something casual and family-friendly, The Heke offers wood-fired dishes, local beer, and a relaxed garden setting.
Local essentials are close too. A well-stocked small supermarket and bottle shop are within walking distance, with Oneroa Village and the Saturday farmers market about ten minutes away by car or local bus.
Getting Around:
The nearest bus stop is within walking distance and links directly to the ferry, Oneroa, and Onetangi Beach. Buses stop outside major wineries including Tantalus, Stonyridge, Te Motu, Wild on Waiheke, and The Heke. Taxis, rental cars, scooters, and e-bikes are available, and there is easy parking at the property.
Other Things to Note:
Waiheke relies entirely on rainwater tanks. To support sustainable living and protect local supply, especially during the drier summer months, we ask guests to be mindful of their water use during their stay.
Minimum stays: 7 nights mid-Dec to mid-Feb and most of April, 3 nights all holiday weekends, 2 nights at all other times.
Interaction with Guests:
Our Stay Waiheke team is available seven days a week from 8.30 am to 5 pm for general queries.
For life threatening emergencies such as fire, police, or ambulance, guests must call 111 immediately.
For any urgent after hours issues, an emergency number is provided in the arrival instructions.
