The Church Retreat is a unique holiday property experience! After a day exploring the region, you can return to the peace and quiet of the Retreat to wind down and relax while taking in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

The contemporary renovation has seen this former 1960's church turned into a spacious, and peaceful country retreat. The space has been completely transformed. For instance, the former altar is now a cooking and entertaining hub. This central hub overlooks the open living space that is cosy in winter, and light and airy in summer. The modern bathroom features a deep double bath that is the perfect place to unwind.
Set in a relaxed rural setting within a small, lovely community that embraces fresh local produce, great local wineries, and the convenience of Cellar doors just 10 minutes drive away.
Enjoy the surrounding historical towns of Beechworth, Myrtleford, and Bright, where you can laze the day away, exploring the markets, festivals, and beautiful eateries.
Whorouly is in the heart of the Ovens Valley in NE Victoria. It's a short drive off the Snow Road between Wangaratta and Myrtleford. Whorouly is a small township with a local country feel. You can walk to the nearby cafe for a coffee in the morning or enjoy a meal at the pub for lunch or dinner.
One thing is for sure, the Church Retreat is the ideal location to explore the region and all it has to offer!

Please note, that The Church Retreat has a wood heater, however, firewood is not provided but can be purchased at local service stations or local Foodworks.

Dieses Ferienhaus in Whorouly liegt in ländlicher Umgebung. Gapsted Wines und Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail sind einen Ausflug wert, wenn du etwas unternehmen möchtest. Wer dagegen die Attraktionen der Region bewundern möchte, ist hier richtig: Milawa Cheese Factory (Käsefabrik) und Queen Victoria Park. Beim Angeln kannst du die umliegende Wasserwelt erkunden oder aber du stürzt dich beim Mountainbiken und beim Radfahren ganz in der Nähe in ein Abenteuer mit festem Boden unter den Füßen.

Vey dissapointing

No care or consideration for the comfort of the guest. EVERYTHING in the premises was supplied to the absolute minimum quantity and standard possible. The cheapest item was evident in every aspect, the market will decide if you can get away with it but i would never recommend or return

Fantastic views

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We’d always wanted to stay in a converted church and The Church Retreat Whorouly ticked the box.Beautiful garden welcomes you and the accomodation was just like the photos. The back deck was lovely to sit, relax and watch the sunrise and reflections at sunset.Tastefully decorated, comfy beds and good heating for comfort.We received an email stating that there would be basics to start with. We had booked for 4 nights and would have expected enough basics to get through but there wasn’t. At a minimum there should have been enough toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, firestarters, soap, shampoo and conditioner.There was no laundry liquid which although we didn’t need I think should be there. Spray and wipe, extra kitchen sponges and teatowels (only 1 ) would be a plus!The dishwasher didn’t work and neither did the back deck outside lights which was a shame. Wifi stopped working after second day.I contacted the agent and he was very apologetic, I hope it’s fixed for the next people.Place was clean but there were dead insects and spiders in multiple kitchen and bathroom drawers and cupboards and no product to fix this. There was $165 cleaning fee and I would have expected it to be spotless.At close to $500 a night I would have expected better.We travel regularly and usually Air BnB and have always found them well appointed with what I have mention + more.I’d think twice about stayz again.

Stunning property, quiet, clean, everything we needed

We would definately recommend The Church Retreat Whorouly. The property is a tranquil setting, a beautifully renovated church and gardens and stunning views from the rear deck to the surrounding countryside. Loved the high ceilings, big bath and the timber floors With the sports oval up the road it was perfect for the teenage kids too. A good distance to drive to Myrtleford and Beechworth. We are looking forward to returning again soon
