About South Durras:
South Durras is a small hamlet-like ‘sanctuary’ nestled in the beautiful Murramarang National Park, with pristine isolated beaches, kangaroos, wallabies, numerous bird species, other vibrant wildlife, even the occasional fur seal. Nature is paramount! Very family friendly area, with abundant opportunities for bush walks, bike riding and visits to hidden beaches.
There is no town water, so all houses have limited rain water tanks. Please use water sparingly. Also, there is no town sewerage system, so all houses have septic tanks – please don’t use too much toilet paper.
There are not really any shops or restaurants, except for a bistro and convenience kiosk at Murramarang Beachfront Holiday Resort, and a coffee and snack van (open in peak holiday periods) at the BIG4 Holiday Park. For a greater range of shops and eateries, head to Batemans Bay.
These so-called ‘limitations’ add to the beauty and natural feel of South Durras in the Murramurang National Park.
Important notes:
- There is no front fence to contain ‘escapee’ dogs :)
- This property cannot accommodate more than 6 people due to limitations on the water tanks.
- Sheets and towels are not provided (comfy mattresses, doonas and pillows are provided). Please bring your own bed, bath & kitchen linen, or alternatively contact Judy of Blissful Bedding in South Durras for all your linen requirements.
- The property includes a laundry sink in the bathroom, and washing machine & dryer. - The solar hot water system (particularly with the electric booster turned on) can be VERY HOT! Please watch small children in the shower and with other hot taps.
