Looking for a quiet stay at the beach, a bit off the beaten path, but handy to golf and some of the best family fun on the coast? Try a stay at Sea Ranch 78, an updated, two-bedroom duplex designed for your comfort and convenience in the heart of quaint downtown Gearhart. You’ll enjoy a bakery, café and grocery mere blocks away, and easy walking access to miles of quiet, sandy beach, but a quick hop in the car will take you to world-class golf or the excitement and family activities of Seaside.

The two cruiser bikes in the garage will give you the run of the neighborhood. Inside, you’ll find a comfy new sofa in front of the gas fireplace and TV, a dining room that seats 6, and a galley kitchen with all you’ll need for dining in (and a washer/dryer for super-convenience). Two spacious bedrooms, one a king and one a queen, have new memory-foam mattresses for a comfortable sleep in this quiet neighborhood. Sea Ranch 78 has its own backyard, with a patio dining table and plenty of lawn for the kids.

Combine your serene stay near the beach with golfing at the wonderful Gearhart Golf Links (the oldest golf course in Oregon, since 1892!), and enjoy a meal and drinks afterwards at the stately McMenamins Gearhart. Or take the family to Seaside or Astoria for the day to explore the historical sites, beautiful beaches and tourist fun galore. Or, if you prefer, you can beat a path from the Gearhart beach to your cozy stay at Sea Ranch 78 and have the quiet coastal stay you crave. Just right, just enough!

When looking for a two bedroom place to stay we came across this little gem. Perfect location in Gearhart, easy walk to the beach, coffee shop right around the corner. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed this little duplex.

Great Location!

Cozy house in the heart of Gearhart. The house was clean, comfortable and well stocked. The beds were extremely comfortable and linens were clean and fresh. Had a little problem with the bikes but management had it fixed immediately. Looking forward to staying in this home again.

We super enjoyed staying here

We came for a 3-day weekend in December and hit the weather jackpot! On top of that, we couldn’t have been happier with the cottage and accommodations. Spacious, well equipped, and in the ideal location. The room with the king-sized bed had pillows, sheets, and mattress way above average, in my opinion! The keypad entry was so easy. The entire stay was comfortable, convenient, and worth a return for us!

Property misrepresented with deceptive enhancement photos! Was looking to spend gracious time there! It was billed as modern! Furniture was defective, musty smell, unkempt but worst of all; unsafe! The rear door didn’t lock and neither did garage door! We didn’t feel safe and secured another one! Am so sorry this happened! Am working out a plan with Meredith Properties to get fully reimbursed!

When you lock the door it will lock just the outside. That means nobody can get in into the house from outside, but people from inside can get out easily. We are sorry if there was any confusion. Gearhart Stay

Overall the stay was fine. The bed was comfortable and we slept great. The bedrooms are spacious. There was no coffee so the morning was rough; we found Safeway 2 miles away. The drip coffee maker takes foreverit also appears to leak. Half the lights are out in the bathroom and the floor rugs in main living area can use a good cleaning.

We enjoyed the stay! It was clean and cozy. We wanted to take the family on a bike ride but there were peddles missing, chains off and flat tires. If those were fixed it would have been perfect. Our favorite part was the location and fire place in the living room.

Loved this location in central Gearhart. Easy check in. Noticed some lapses in cleanliness such as moldy spots on shower curtain liner and dust built up on overhead fan. Some kitchen pots and pans and furniture well worn.

Peaceful Getaway

Located in quiet, non-touristy, seaside village of Gearhart. It's an easy walk to the gorgeous beach, nice 2 mile walk or bike ride around the central golf course and only 1 block from two coffee shops with delicious pastries. Home was spotless with comfy beds and large sofa. Kitchen contained all the basics. Very effective gas fireplace! Garage contained a variety of bicycles which was a nice perk since the town is bike friendly.

sweet location

The pictures represent the house well but the house is older and is not clean enough for my taste. Not repulsive but many small ways it could be improved. We had a coffee pot issue and it was replaced almost immediately. Location is nice and quiet, beds are good, local restaurant and coffee shop, market, some little shopping, all very good. Beach is lovely and quiet here, a short walk from easy parking. I'd go back!

Not Horrible, but not great

Quiet neighborhood at night. It's an old building. Couches old and worn. Need to be replaced as mentioned in other reviews. Beds not the greatest. Could update those also. Fireplace insert would not light. Glad it wasn't all that cold. Could not use the rusty BBQ (2 of them both rusted) the other side of this duplex had what looked like a newer, usable BBQ. Shower/tub was good and water was hot. Kitchen had what we needed. Parking was onsite and not on roadway. We had 1 vehicle, but room for another.A little pricey for this unit, but didn't ruin our stay.

Property clean, but in poor condition. Fireplace, grill, bathtub unusable. Wood veener peeling from furniture. Closet doors falling off. Tabletop stained and 'unappetizing'. In my opinion, should not be listed for rental.

Cozy place but not cleaned very well

Super easy check in process, no complaints. Everything about the property is fine, except for the cleanliness. We wanted to set up the rug as a play area for the kids. Wife decided she'd vacuum the area rug before she put the play mat down. The vacuum was half full by the time she was done. Couch also needed to be cleaned, didn't feel comfortable putting the kids on it without a blanket over it.Appliances were fine, but the dishwasher seemed like it needed to be cleaned well or replaced.The messaging on parking wasn't clear either. Listing says to park one car in the driveway and one car in the garage- but the garage is full of bikes and other stuff, so no room to park in there. There's enough space to park in the driveway and to fit two cars side by side. Wasn't an issue for us, but could be for someone else.Lots of places to stay in Gearhart- from Gearhart by the Sea, to Drifthaven, and tons of houses in between. Nothing was redeeming about this one, for the price there are better ones around.

Great location & beds.....but that's it.

We came in to a very loud siren like noise that traveled from outside the house to inside in the living room ceiling. It was so loud (and lasted for an hour) that we had to sit outside with the doors and windows of the house closed up. Called the property manager when it first began and she said she would have someone out ASAP (1 hour and 15 minutes later.......) We had an extremely competent person (Matt) who checked everything. Unfortunately the sound quit 5 minutes before he arrived. We never heard back from the property manager to find out how things were progressing. The shower curtain had mold 1/4 up, the toilet groaned for 5 minutes after flushing, broken closet doors in master, a neighbor (no privacy between) ran his wood splitter the whole time, the bbq was rusted, the kitchen faucet had no washer (so shower in kitchen?), no battery in remote for fireplace.... Also we hooked the drain spout up on the front porch as it was dangling. So much more needs to happen to make this a pleasant experience - however, the beds were really comfortable AND the location is great!

We were notified about the siren-like noise, and sent someone over to try to determine where the sound was coming from. Had we also been notified of the other issues listed, we would have offered assistance. We will have our local property team review your concerns. Deferred maintenance, great location

I don’t want to flame this place but it was pretty disappointing. Thick dust build-up on edge of ceiling fan, copious mold on plastic shower/tub liner, grill rusted out, and surrounded by lint blown out from the clothes dryer—all indicative of a lack of attention and dare I say cleanliness. “New memory foam king” bed was covered in yellow and brown stains when we removed our sheets as requested at end of stay. Yuck! Get some mattress pad/covers! The pictures in listing are clearly from very early on in rental or some special staging and I would say misrepresent the condition of this house. Although I had no interest in using it, the in-wall fireplace thing was half falling off. It’s the main focal point on the wall in the main room. Rough. The fabric softener cup in the agitator of the clothes washing machine was absolutely packed with powdered detergent. I cleaned it out so I could do a load. There is a very short length of fence that you see in the photos. All this does is separate and delineate this unit from its duplex twin. Feels like you are hanging out on the neighbor’s driveway when you are back there, so we didn’t use. Wow. I just looked back at my invoice and we paid over $1000 for three nights after all additional charges, fees, and taxes. I feel ripped off. Great location! 🌞

We had an amazing stay! The duplex was clean, cozy, and the cotton sheets were a wonderful touch. The location is fantastic, and the host was very responsive and helpful. We truly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend it.
