Tiny Regen Farm Stay by Tiny Away
Summary:
Our regenerative farm at Lawrence is 140 acres on Dja Dja Wurrung country. As its new custodians, we are transforming this grazing land into a diverse and drought-resilient farm ecosystem. Grass-fed beef and agroforestry are our main focus but also have free-ranging geese, ducks, chickens, and dogs.
You can hike up the mountain for a stunning panorama, order a cheese platter and marvel at the sunset then gaze at the stars around your own campfire (May-Dec weather pending).
LGBTQIA+ friendly
The Space:
Tiny Regen Farm Stay by Tiny Away is set in a 10 acre paddock overlooking a small pond (and road and valley beyond) and is about 200m from the main residence.
This 190-square-foot tiny house offers guests a comfortable stay with its well-equipped kitchenette complete with air-conditioning and heating. There is a queen-sized bed up in the loft and a sofa bed on the ground floor, which can be converted to a single bed size. It can sleep 2 adults (in the loft) and 1 child (on the sofa bed) comfortably.
The kitchenette has everything you need to cook your light meals with. A portable stove, cookware, utensils, cutlery, dishes, microwave and fridge. The portable stove can be kept in the drawers when not in use to maximise space.
Our bathroom facilities follow ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin, and shower (gas-heated for hot showers). The compost toilet has a waterless system (no need to flush!), whereas a standard dual flush toilet would use up to 350L of water per week. An aeration fan helps in the decomposition process and minimises odours.
Guest Access:
Most of the farm will be accessible to guests to explore and enjoy on foot, excluding private living quarters, shed, and paddocks with livestock inside. A map of these areas will be provided on arrival. Vehicles must not be driven in paddocks.
The Neighborhood:
Tiny Regen Farm Stay by Tiny Away sits in rural Lawrence, Victoria. A vast agricultural region that was once bustling goldfields is now a thriving community with restaurants, bakeries, shops, and more. Creswick and Clunes are all within 15-min drive from the tiny house.
So, make an endless list of things to do today.
Our local recommendations:
Shopping:
- Daylesford Market (every Sunday)
- Creswick Farmers Market - a marketplace that opens 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month.
- Amazing Mill Markets, Daylesford
Food:
- Cumberland Hotel – just 2 min down the road for great pub meals all day
- Le Peche Gourmand – a French bakery-pastry shop that bakes some of the best pastries in Creswick, Victoria.
- Captain Creek Organic Wines – book for a special weekend lunch, a cellar door/restaurant/vineyard that offers organic produce and wines from local producers.
Sightseeing
- Mineral Spas at Hepburn Springs
- Clunes and Creswick – quaint and historic goldmining villages
- Sovereign Hill, Ballarat – an open-air museum where you can go sightseeing and learn about the history of Golden Point, Ballarat.
- Morningswood Farm is a berry farm that offers your seasonal picked-out berries.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 12 min (14km) drive to Creswick
- 20 min (24km) drive to Daylesford
- 30 min (33km) drive to Ballarat
-1.5 hours (135km) drive from Melbourne
By public transport:
- Guests can catch a train to Creswick, and I can pick them up and back for a fee (best arranged before making a booking)
Other Things to Note:
This is a working regenerative farm. Whilst all efforts will be done to reduce noise disturbances from machinery and animals, occasional disturbances may occur, including from the generally quiet public road, and Manny the Maremma Sheepdog who barks to wards off the foxes at night. A working farm will usually include mud, tall grass, life (including frogs and insects) and everything else nature has to offer.
- Quiet hours 10 pm-7 am
- NOT CHILD-FRIENDLY due to farm hazard
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Please leave all farm gates as they were found
- We have a sheepdog who barks to ward off the foxes at night
- Please do not enter animal paddocks or yards without the host’s permission
- Guests are advised to follow the safety guidelines discussed with the land host
- Guests are advised to wear boots or shoes as the property is a working regenerative farm
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge.
Pre-orders
- Firewood packs are available for a cost of $25 per bag
- Fires are only allowed during permitted seasons AND when conditions are favourable (little to no wind)
- Local cheese/meat platters and breakfast packs are available by prior arrangement with your land host
- If you wish to order, please contact your land host 24 hours in advance to make the necessary arrangements
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- Please expect some noise as the property is a working farm stay accommodation that cares for farm animals and crops
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the [compost/cassette] toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
Interaction with Guests:
Guests will enjoy your own private space but we are always happy to chat with you.
