Hekerua Bay Retreat by Stay Waiheke
Summary:
Set above Hekerua Bay with wide sea views and a calm coastal feel, Hekerua Bay Retreat is a relaxed, spacious home made for families and friends. With a large deck, open living spaces, and an easy connection to Palm Beach, it’s designed for long, simple island days.
The Space:
erched above native bush with long views across Hekerua Bay, this light-filled home feels calm from the moment you step inside. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge area moves easily out to the large deck, where outdoor dining, a BBQ, and comfortable seating create a space made for slow mornings, shared meals, and evenings when the sky turns pink over the water.
The layout works beautifully for families and friends. The master bedroom has a king bed and its own ensuite, positioned to catch the morning light. Upstairs, a second bedroom offers a split-king that can be made into twins. Downstairs, another king room sits quietly away from the main living space, and the bunk room with a double bed on the bottom and a single above giving kids or teens their own place to retreat after a day at the beach. Two-and-a-half bathrooms make it easy for everyone to spread out, shower off, and settle in.
Throughout the home, windows frame the bush and sea beyond, filling each room with soft coastal light. It’s a relaxed, generous space designed for togetherness — cooking, resting, and drifting between the deck and the living room as the island sets the pace.
Please note: With stairs connecting multiple levels, the property may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Bed & Bath Configuration
• Master – King bed + ensuite
• Upstairs guest – Split king (beds can be separated)
• Downstairs guest – King bed
• Bunk room – Double bottom + single top
2 1/2 bathrooms - master with ensuite
Sleeps 8 guests total
Guest Access:
Check-in is from 2:00 pm, and check-out is by 10:30 am. Early check-in or late check-out may be available for an additional fee; we’ll confirm closer to your stay. Please note that if there’s a same-day guest changeover, these can’t be offered.
There’s off-street parking available on the property for your convenience.
The Neighborhood:
Hekerua Bay Retreat sits in a peaceful pocket between Palm Beach and Oneroa, surrounded by native bush and the sound of the sea drifting up from below. From the deck, you look straight out across the bay, a calm, sheltered stretch of coastline that feels private but still close to everything.
It’s around a ten-minute walk down to Palm Beach, where mornings start with a swim, a paddleboard session, or a coffee from the Palm Beach Store. Arcadia Waiheke is just up the road, a relaxed local spot known for good food, friendly faces, and long lunches on their sunlit deck.
Oneroa Village is only a few minutes by car and brings together the island’s cafés, eateries, and easy evening options. Whether you’re after brunch with a sea view at Obee’s, fresh pasta at Fenice, or oysters and coastal dishes at Josh Emett’s Oyster Inn, everything feels close and effortless.
You’re also surrounded by Waiheke’s best vineyards. Mudbrick, Cable Bay, Tantalus Estate, Stonyridge, and Casita Miro are all within easy reach, perfect for lingering afternoons among the vines before heading home to watch the bay settle into twilight.
It’s a neighbourhood that blends quiet coastal living with all the island essentials just minutes away, the kind of place where days unfold naturally and the island rhythm takes over.
Getting Around:
Hekerua Bay Retreat sits in a peaceful pocket between Palm Beach and Oneroa, surrounded by native bush and the sound of the sea below. From the deck, you can look straight out across the bay, a calm, sheltered stretch of coastline that feels private yet close to everything.
It’s about a ten-minute walk to Palm Beach, where you can swim, paddleboard, or stop for coffee or breakfast at the Palm Beach Store. For a relaxed lunch or dinner, Arcadia Waiheke is just up the hill, known for its friendly service, great coffee, and hearty island food served on a sunny deck.
If you’re heading further, Oneroa Village is five minutes by car, home to cafés, small shops, and easy dinner options. Try Obee's Waiheke for brunch with an amazing ocean views, Fenice for Italian, or The Oyster Inn, the well-known restaurant by Josh Emett.
You’re also within easy reach of the island’s most loved vineyards, Mudbrick, Cable Bay, Tantalus Estate, and Stonyridge each perfect for long, unhurried lunches among the vines.
By evening, the bay quiets, the air cools, and the island settles into that familiar slow rhythm that makes Waiheke feel worlds away.
